The news of the tribe chief’s oath with He quickly spread throughout the tribe!
That day, the two went to the shaman to determine a date. Here, an oath requires a divination and drawing lots to set the date when the altar will be open for the couple to swear their vows before the Beast God. Now, Yang Dalang no longer blames the tribe’s shaman. Perhaps, guided by some mystical force, they had to learn to respect and adapt to the ancient wisdom of this place.
As for the postponed oath of Mo and Chun, they also had to set a new date. After the divination, Mo and Chun’s oath was scheduled for fifteen days later, while Miao He and Yang Dalang’s would take another month. Each couple received a different omen, so their oaths couldn’t coincide. Although they had to wait a few more days, Miao He was still very happy to have a wedding just for them.
Before the oath, Yang Dalang’s house began bustling with preparations for a new home! The chief’s tent had not yet been replaced with an earthen house, and at that time, Yang Dalang wasn’t concerned with such things. Now that he had found the little brother (ger), he wanted to improve their living conditions.
They weren’t building an earthen house but a luxurious wooden house made from large logs.
When others asked, Yang Dalang always answered that he got the idea from seeing Chun’s earthen house, using carpentry skills he learned from Yang Datong in his past life. Yang Dalang had once built a pavilion for flower viewing on his family’s mountain. Naturally, it was Miao He who suggested the idea, and the three men in the family did the work.
However, such an explanation couldn’t escape Chun’s suspicion, if he truly were a time traveler.
But Yang Dalang firmly denied Miao He’s doubts. When looking for Miao He, he had tried testing Chun in various ways, and many things they knew, Chun did not.
So where did Chun’s knowledge come from?
This slight suspicion flashed by, and they let it go. After all, whether it was true or not, it wouldn’t change much.
The two of them now wanted to walk this strange world together again.
They were eager to discover and explore the magical and fresh things around them.
After the transformation, Yang Dalang takes on a cat-like form, with beautiful, majestic, and warm fur that Miao He loved to snuggle into. Miao He’s ears and tail, after some exploration, had Yang Dalang contemplating how to make use of them on their wedding night.
Many in the tribe couldn’t understand it.
They wondered how Miao He, who had seemed so heartbroken over Mo and had voluntarily sacrificed himself to the Sacred Mountain to help Mo and Chun, could turn around and be so close to the chief?
However, their intimate mannerisms seemed genuine.
Even walking together, He often clung to the chief, not touching the ground, looking even more passionate than Mo and Chun.
Meng, Miao He’s friend, looked worried, “He, are you and the chief… really serious? You’re not just doing this to make Mo jealous, are you?” He was genuinely concerned that He was involving the chief just to spite Mo.
Miao He was stunned for a moment, then smiled, “It’s real. I received the Beast God’s enlightenment and figured things out.”
Mentioning the Beast God, Meng didn’t doubt it for a second and happily said, “That’s great! The Beast God’s arrangement must be correct; the chief is definitely better than Mo! You must live well together!”
Miao He couldn’t help but hug this young, adorable friend. “Thank you, Meng.”
Feeling a bit flattered, Meng scratched his curly hair and chuckled. “Hey, why say that? Have you and the chief made the necklaces for the oath day? If not, I’ll go find some more beautiful beast teeth for you!”

While Miao He and Yang Dalang happily prepared for their oath, the atmosphere between Mo and Chun was much more awkward.
Mo kept recalling the determined back of He entering the Sacred Mountain.
That scene had left a deep impact on him, along with a sense of hidden superiority that Mo couldn’t forget even now.
His absent-mindedness was real.
“Mo, which type of beast tooth do you like? The necklace for the oath must be something you’ll always wear. I want to make one you genuinely like, so… Mo, Mo?”
“?” Chun raised his voice a bit, and Mo finally snapped back to reality.
Chun bit his lip, suppressing his displeasure, and repeated the question. In the end, all he got was, “I like them all.”
The heavy atmosphere only thickened between them.
After a quiet moment, Chun lowered his head slightly.
“…Mo, do you still like He? If that’s the case, then we—”
“No, I don’t!” Mo also knew something was wrong, but how could he admit it? “It’s just some guilt. But now that He is with the chief, we can safely take our oath. It’s good…”
Chun’s eyes filled with unshed tears as he pitifully asked, “Really? You’re not lying to me?”
“Of course, I’m not lying.”
With that, Mo pulled him into his arms, as he always did. Whether it was to conceal or comfort, no one knew.
Chun didn’t mind, simply leaning into him. He thought to himself, he could never let their oath fail.
In his past life, Mo eventually ended up with He. Mo’s lingering feelings for He were not unexpected.
But what did that matter? After their oath, any infidelity or betrayal by an orc was seen as a severe crime, akin to deceiving the Beast God. So as long as he held onto Mo, once the chief passed and Mo became the new chief, he could enjoy a life where everything was taken care of!
Just like those noble orcs he had seen when he was sold as a slave to a big city by another tribe after the Beast Wave in his previous life! It was from there he learned so much, realizing how backward his home life had been! And all he yearned for required power and status to achieve.
Though the wooden house the chief built had startled him, as long as he thought about how the chief had never left this place before he died, Chun felt at ease. No matter how similar the house was to those in the city, it was probably just a coincidence.
So all he had to do was hold onto Mo and wait for Hui to die.
How simple.
Not long after, it was the day of Mo and Chun’s oath.
The ceremony was presided over by the shaman, but the chief always sat at the head seat. Today, He sat beside the chief. Although they hadn’t taken their oath yet, sitting early, the straightforward orc minds all welcomed and admired the future partner of their increasingly calm and excellent chief.
After all, He had once voluntarily gone to the Sacred Mountain as a sacrifice! Now sitting here, healthy and safe, and claiming to have received the Beast God’s enlightenment, all his brave and mystical deeds made him more than worthy of their chief!
The hunting team knew that since a few months ago, the chief had introduced many new strategies for hunting, making it safer and more efficient, and each hunt brought back much more prey!
And the chief’s chosen partner was also very beautiful.
Miao He, on this day, wore a luxurious fur cloak that matched his ears, reaching down to his feet, specially hunted by Yang Dalang to keep him warm. He also wore official adornments of tooth beads and colorful stones, complementing his body’s delicate appearance, exuding a majestic aura that orcs couldn’t describe but found impressive and beautiful!
Even during the oath, Mo couldn’t help but steal several glances at his former partner.
Miao He, smiling and leaning against the chief’s arm, occasionally looked up with those charming eyes, glancing at the tall chief.
For some reason, a sense of inexplicable loss swept over Mo’s heart.
It felt as if something had been unknowingly lost.
Even though standing beside him was Chun, who should have been someone he was grateful for and cherished.
Yet, that splash of orange-red in his heart, no other color could replace it.

After Mo and Chun’s oath, an even grander event followed!
The oath of the chief and his partner!
For days before, the entire tribe had been fervently preparing. The scale was vastly different from Mo and Chun’s! The tribe decorated with specially woven flowers, and special vines and grass were hung! On both sides of the venue, countless torches burned brightly! Even large beast teeth were used for decoration!
Even the altar set up by the shaman was different.
On a three-foot-high platform, a giant serpent-shaped Beast God statue was solemnly placed.
As the ceremony began, the warriors beat drums, and the sub-beasts sang blessings.
This was a ritual only the chief and his partner could enjoy.
In the crowd, Chun watched with fervent eyes, while Mo could only suppress his complex emotions.
Amidst this lively atmosphere, Miao He wore a richly layered ceremonial robe, so extravagant that it almost made walking difficult.
But upon seeing Yang Dalang waiting at the altar, tall and upright, his steps quickened involuntarily. The smile on his face couldn’t be contained.
Afterward, the shaman applied paints on their faces, shoulders, and arms.
The ritual before communion was extraordinarily solemn and serious.
In the silent scene, the shaman’s mysterious chant was the only sound. Finally, the shaman had them kneel together and recite:
“To the Lord of Chaos, to the Beast God above.”
“I, Hui/He, now offer my soul and blood before the God.”
“Through calamity and illness, I swear to follow He/Hui, bound in blood and spirit.”
“Until the heavens and earth cease. Until the end of days.”
As the final vow was spoken, the serpent statue’s eyes faintly glowed with golden light!
When the tribespeople below noticed, a commotion arose!
Miao He only felt his eyes sting, sincerely hoping the oath would come true.
He turned to Yang Dalang, finding the same look in his eyes. They only had eyes for each other.
Their clasped hands tightened.
Until the heavens and earth cease. Until the end of days.

At that moment, a small golden snake was hiding in a distant tree.
Satisfied with the scene, it wriggled its body proudly before departing.
