SPMT : Chapter 42 Meeting Wang Erhu

Meeting Wang Erhu

After sorting out the spirit plants, they were sent into the city by Xu Mu’an. Xu Mu’an had good bargaining skills, and Xiao Jingting had entrusted the grain selling business entirely to him.

“Uncle Li, I’m troubling you again.” Because there was quite a bit of grain to sell, Xu Mu’an directly hired Li Sheng’s ox cart.

Li Sheng smiled and said, “No trouble at all, little Xu! You have quite a bit of grain to sell this time!”

Xu Mu’an nodded and said, “Yes.”

“With so much spiritual grain, you can sell it for quite a bit of silver,” Li Sheng remarked.

“Yeah,” Xu Mu’an agreed. Due to the abandoned spiritual fields and the need to pay fines, Xiao Jingting had already discussed this matter with Xu Mu’an. Hearing about this, Xu Mu’an felt a heavy burden in his heart. He wished he could conjure up thousands of taels of silver immediately. “Money is not easy to come by,” Xu Mu’an sighed lightly.

Li Sheng looked at Xu Mu’an and said, “Little Xu, even if you have money, you can’t spend it recklessly!”

Xu Mu’an nodded and said, “I know.”

“Are you going alone?” Li Sheng asked.

“Shuyu ge will accompany me,” Xu Mu’an replied.

“It’s better for two people to go. It’s safer,” Li Sheng said.

Xu Mu’an nodded and said, “That’s what I think too.”

With Xu Mu’an’s help, Mu Shuyu loaded the grain onto the cart. Qiu Bai watched this scene from afar, full of envy.

“So much spiritual grain! With so much, you should be able to sell it for seven or eight hundred taels of silver,” Zhao Man’er muttered enviously.

“Xiao Jingting actually entrusted the important task of selling grain to Xu Mu’an.”

Zhao Man’er was somewhat puzzled. “Isn’t it right to entrust it to Xu Mu’an? My father also entrusts the selling of grain to our steward.”

“Of course it’s not right. How much money can your family’s grain sell for? The grade of grain your family grows is low, and your father knows it. But Xiao Jingting’s grain is different. The grade of the grain he grows is high, with a wide price range. Xu Mu’an can pocket one or two hundred taels without anyone noticing,” Qiu Bai said sourly.

Zhao Man’er scratched her head and said, “Xu Xiao isn’t that kind of person, though.”

Qiu Bai snorted and said, “Who knows? You can’t judge a person by their appearance.”

After selling the grain, Xu Mu’an received eight hundred and fifty taels of silver, which finally eased his mind a bit.

As Xu Mu’an walked out of the grain shop, a person rushed towards him in panic. “Young Master Xu, please save me!”

Xu Mu’an looked at the approaching person, feeling a surge of disgust. He wished he could kick him hard. Looking at Wang Erhu, Xu Mu’an sneered and said, “Save you? I don’t even know you, why should I save you?”

“Young Master Xu, I’m your husband’s brother. You can’t just stand by and watch me die!” Wang Erhu pleaded urgently.

Xu Mu’an chuckled and said, “Ridiculous. My husband’s brother is a young master of the Xiao family, just like my husband. How dare a ruffian like you pretend to be a young master of the Xiao family.”

Several stewards came out with sticks. “Alright! This ruffian finally dares to show his face.”

The stewards looked at Xu Mu’an with fear, as if worried that Xu Mu’an would stand up for Wang Erhu. “You ruffian, pretending to be relatives, now someone has come to deal with you.”

“This young man is right. This person is not a good thing and deserves to be dealt with.”

Xu Mu’an took a few steps back, watching the scene with schadenfreude.

Wang Erhu cried out in pain as he was beaten. Xu Mu’an couldn’t be bothered to watch anymore and turned to leave.

Seeing Xu Mu’an about to leave, Wang Erhu shouted anxiously, “Master Xiao, don’t go. I know a secret, a secret about your husband.”

Xu Mu’an’s heart skipped a beat. He sneered and said, “You? What could you know?”

“Somebody wants to harm your husband. He instructed me to lead your husband astray,” Wang Erhu shouted loudly.

“Don’t talk nonsense. My husband has always been kind to others. How could anyone want to harm him? You ruffian, you’re just full of lies. I don’t want to deal with you,” Xu Mu’an said, pulling Mu Shuyu away.

Mu Shuyu was pulled away by Xu Mu’an, looking anxiously at him and saying, “What he said might not necessarily be false.”

Xu Mu’an nodded and said, “What he said should be true. Don’t worry, those stewards wouldn’t dare to beat someone to death openly in the city. They’ll get into trouble.”

Mu Shuyu: “…”

Xu Mu’an pursed his lips and said lightly, “When that guy is beaten into submission, we’ll quietly find someone to ask about it.”

Mu Shuyu: “…”
