SPMT : Chapter 78 Refusing Sun Miaomiao

Rejecting Sun Miaomiao

Taking time off from their busy schedule, Xiao Jingting took Xu Mu’an to browse around the major merchant house in the city.

“What nonsense are you talking about? Why buy a storage bracelet? I stay home all day with nowhere to go. What would I need this thing for?” Xu Mu’an stood in front of the counter, helplessly shaking his head at Xiao Jingting beside him.

“To store things!” Xiao Jingting said.

Xu Mu’an shook his head and said, “What do I have to store?”

Xiao Jingting and Xu Mu’an were looking at storage bracelets at the counter on the ground floor of the merchant house when a woman in blue robes walked down from upstairs.

“Miss Sun, are you really not taking this shark silk dress? This is rare shark silk, warm in winter and cool in summer, only two thousand taels of silver. It’s really not that expensive,” an attendant followed behind the woman in blue robes.

Xiao Jingting instinctively looked back and discovered that Miss Sun was actually Sun Miaomiao.

When Sun Miaomiao saw Xiao Jingting, her face flushed with heat.

The attendant serving Xiao Jingting smiled slightly and said, “Young Master Xiao, should I wrap up this storage bracelet for you?”

“We don’t want it.”

“We’ll take it. No need to wrap it.” Xiao Jingting took the storage bracelet and forcibly put it on Xu Mu’an’s hand.

“Young Master Xiao, you’re a gold member, so that’s nine thousand five hundred taels total.”

Xiao Jingting paid the silver very readily.

“Young Master Xiao, your business is so big now. This nine thousand taels must be like a drop in the bucket for you.”

Xiao Jingting smiled bitterly and said, “What are you talking about? It’s just a small business, barely enough to make ends meet.”

Sun Miaomiao looked at the bracelet on Xu Mu’an’s hand and felt as if her eyes were being burned by that gleaming bracelet.

Xiao Jingting said to Xu Mu’an, “Let’s go look at other things.”

“Xiao Jingting.” Sun Miaomiao raised her voice and called out.

Xiao Jingting turned around to look at Sun Miaomiao and asked, “Eldest sister-in-law, is there something?”

Sun Miaomiao pointed at the shark silk dress in the attendant’s hands behind her and said, “I like this. Buy it for me.”

Xiao Jingting was immediately stunned. Miss Sun’s willful and unreasonable behavior was also famous. However, Xiao Jingting had heard that Sun Miaomiao had restrained herself considerably after marrying Xiao Muhong. Now it seemed she hadn’t restrained herself at all!

“Sister-in-law, I didn’t bring enough silver. If you want to buy it, you should ask cousin Xiao Muhong. My family is about to have another addition, so I need to work hard to earn more money to support the household,” Xiao Jingting said sincerely.

Sun Miaomiao said angrily, “Xiao Jingting, you used to say that whatever I liked, you would buy for me even if it meant bankrupting your family. Are you going back on your word?”

Xiao Jingting: “…” That was what the original host said! Well, since he was occupying the original host’s body, Sun Miaomiao had really gone all out – saying such things in public without fear of making Xiao Muhong feel disgusted.

“Cousin sister-in-law, I was young then and spoke without thinking. Now that times have changed and you’ve married my cousin, let’s not bring up the past anymore.”

Xu Mu’an tugged at Xiao Jingting’s sleeve and said, “Let’s go first.”

Xiao Jingting nodded and said, “Alright!”

Sun Miaomiao watched helplessly as Xiao Jingting led Xu Mu’an away, her face alternating between green and white.

Noticing that many people around were looking at her, Sun Miaomiao became somewhat embarrassed and angry, “What are you looking at? What’s so interesting to see?”

Sun Miaomiao flicked her sleeves and left angrily.

After Xiao Jingting walked out of the merchant house, he carefully looked behind him, then said with relief, “She didn’t follow.”

“Are you afraid of her?” Xu Mu’an asked somewhat amusedly.

Xiao Jingting nodded and said, “A little.” It seemed Xiao Muhong couldn’t control Sun Miaomiao anymore.

“You used to go weak in the knees and couldn’t walk when you saw her,” Xu Mu’an said.

Xiao Jingting: “…”

The incident of Sun Miaomiao demanding that Xiao Jingting buy clothes for her in public and being refused quickly reached Xiao Muhong’s ears.

Liu Xian said angrily, “Son, your wife is too improper.”

Xiao Muhong’s face was dark as he remained silent.

The beverage shop’s business was getting better and better, while his relationship with Sun Miaomiao became increasingly tense. He had originally hoped that the several new cold drink shops that opened could take away business from Xiao Jingting’s shop, but unexpectedly, those beverage shops were of such poor quality that they had no business at all.

Sun Miaomiao was a young lady from the Sun family, accustomed to spending money lavishly. Now that the second branch was in power, they had suppressed them considerably in financial matters. Several profitable ventures had been transferred by the second branch to the third and fourth branches. Liu Xian had to repeatedly cut expenses.

“I didn’t expect it would be like this either.” Sun Miaomiao’s willfulness wasn’t something new. When Sun Miaomiao first married him, she had restrained herself considerably for him. Many of Xiao Muhong’s friends praised him for being capable – even Miss Sun could become gentle as water when she met him. Now, he had probably become a laughingstock among his friends.

Xiao Muhong took a deep breath. Sun Miaomiao acting like that in public was probably out of regret. Xiao Jingting’s shop reportedly made several thousand taels income per day. No wonder Sun Miaomiao was tempted.

“Sun Miaomiao apparently ran into Xiao Jingting buying a storage bracelet for Xu Mu’an at the shop. That guy Xiao Jingting is so smug it’s disgusting. After earning some money, instead of focusing on cultivation, he just knows how to spend wildly. I don’t think he’ll amount to anything,” Liu Xian cursed maliciously.

Xiao Muhong looked at Liu Xian’s angry face and said, “Mother, calm down.” Liu Xian had been under tremendous pressure recently and looked much more haggard.

“Those two little bastards,” Liu Xian cursed hatefully. She should have done everything possible to get those two bastards killed outside.

“I’m back,” Sun Miaomiao entered the room, gave them a cold greeting, and went into her room.

Liu Xian looked at Sun Miaomiao’s cold demeanor and felt fire rise in her heart. Thinking that she still had to rely on the Sun family behind Sun Miaomiao, Liu Xian forcibly swallowed her anger.

At the Beverage Shop.

“Brother Jing, should it be higher?” Li Qing asked while moving the signboard.

Xiao Jinfeng looked and said, “That’s about right, this height is good. Come down.”

Li Qing was originally a member of the mercenary team. His qi sea was damaged by a demon beast, and his cultivation dropped from the third layer of Qi Refining to the second layer. After Li Qing returned home, he was excluded by his family brothers and had a hard time. Xiao Jinfeng hired Li Qing as an employee. After Li Qing took on delivery tasks, his life became much more stable.

Tong Li had been unable to find work since his leg was bitten and he got a prosthetic limb. Now he was helping in the shop.

“Vice Captain.”

Xiao Jinfeng frowned. When Li Qing and Tong Li first came, they habitually called him Vice Captain. It took a while before they corrected it.

Xiao Jinfeng turned around and saw it was Zhang Meng. His expression wasn’t very good. When Xiao Jinfeng was in the mercenary team, he had a good relationship with Zhang Meng and Zhou Fang. When he was expelled from the mercenary team, Zhang Meng had also tried to speak up for him. However, Hua Yufeng had already seized power then, and Zhang Meng and others still wanted to stay in the mercenary team, so naturally they couldn’t offend Hua Yufeng too much. In the end, they could only watch him get expelled.

Xiao Jinfeng could understand Zhang Meng and Zhou Fang’s choice to protect themselves, but that didn’t mean he could accept it.

“Don’t call me Vice Captain. I’m someone who was expelled from the mercenary team – I haven’t been a Vice Captain for a long time,” Xiao Jinfeng said coldly.

Hearing Xiao Jinfeng’s words, Zhang Meng and Zhou Fang’s faces were full of embarrassment.

“Is there something you need?” Xiao Jinfeng said.

“Brother Jing, the mercenary team has disbanded,” Zhang Meng said.

“Oh,” Xiao Jinfeng responded indifferently.

That guy Hua Yufeng had finally destroyed the mercenary team. Xiao Jinfeng had originally thought he would gloat, but found that after feeling pleased for a moment, his heart suddenly felt empty.

Thinking about the mercenary team’s troubles, Xiao Jinfeng really didn’t want to chat more and turned to leave. “I still have matters to attend to. Excuse me.”

“Brother Jing, I’m sorry,” Zhang Meng said.

Xiao Jinfeng sighed and walked into the shop.

Li Qing looked at Zhang Meng, unsure what to say.

“How did the mercenary team disband?” Li Qing asked.

Zhang Meng was stunned and said, “The mercenary team took on several high-risk missions consecutively. Personnel losses became increasingly severe, then it disbanded.”

“I see,” Li Qing sighed, not knowing what to say either.

“Jinfeng is doing very well now!” Zhang Meng said.

Li Qing nodded and said, “That’s right.”

The beverage shop’s business was getting better day by day. There were even some merchant houses buying beverages in large quantities here to resell. When Xiao Jinfeng went out now, everyone called him Boss Xiao. His life was much more comfortable than when he was in the mercenary team.

“How is Hua Yufeng?” Li Qing asked.

“Severely injured. It looks like even if he heals, he’ll only be at the second layer of Qi Refining. That’s why the mercenary team disbanded,” Zhang Meng said.

Li Qing didn’t know what to say. When he learned that the mercenary team had expelled Xiao Jinfeng, Li Qing was very angry. Li Qing had long known that Hua Yufeng and Xiao Jinfeng didn’t get along well, but he hadn’t expected Hua Yufeng to go that far, and that the mercenary team members would actually kick Xiao Jinfeng when he was down for the benefits promised by the Zhou family.

Hearing about Hua Yufeng’s severe injury now, Li Qing immediately felt that Hua Yufeng was getting his just deserts.

“The wheel of fate turns, and retribution is inescapable!” Li Qing shook his head.

“How are you doing working here?” Zhang Meng said.

“Pretty good,” Li Qing said.

Although Xiao Jinfeng treated the few mercenary team members well, he wasn’t as close as before. Even though they had already left the mercenary team when things happened, they had once been part of the mercenary team after all. It was already quite good that Xiao Jinfeng was willing to put aside grievances and employ them.

Li Qing and Zhang Meng chatted for a while, then left.

Zhang Meng looked toward the shop and sighed softly, then turned and left.

After Sun Miaomiao returned to the Xiao family, she began smashing things in a rage.

“Miss, calm down. This is the Xiao family. If you do this, the young master will be unhappy,” the maid said frantically.

Sun Miaomiao’s eyes were red as she said through gritted teeth, “If he’s unhappy, then let him be unhappy.”

Sun Miaomiao’s heart was full of grievance. When she married Xiao Muhong, she had hoped that Xiao Muhong could rise to prominence. As a result, now the main branch was constrained everywhere, and the household servants also followed the wind. Many people secretly said she had abandoned Xiao Jingting and chosen Xiao Muhong – picking up sesame seeds while losing watermelons.

When Xiao Linfeng had just returned, Sun Miaomiao still felt her choice was right. Xiao Muhong had potential, while what was Xiao Jingting? Just a spoiled second-generation young master who relied on his parents’ authority to throw his weight around.

But now, her life was getting worse while Xiao Jingting was living prosperously. Sun Miaomiao was beginning to waver.

Wang Lu disliked her very much and would mock her sarcastically whenever possible. Xiao Muhong feared Wang Lu and didn’t dare speak up for her.

When she was in the Sun family, she was a precious young lady who had never suffered such grievances.

Sun Miaomiao had originally thought Xiao Muhong was good, but now she felt Xiao Muhong was quite useless.

What was Xu Mu’an anyway? Low-born and a ger! Who knows what medicine Xiao Jingting took to treasure such a person in his palm, even buying Xu Mu’an a storage bracelet worth nearly ten thousand taels of silver. How was that person worthy? She was still using a storage pouch.

Sun Miaomiao clenched her fists. Today she had impulsively said those things, and that guy Xiao Jingting had actually dared to embarrass her like that.

Back then, if she pointed east, Xiao Jingting wouldn’t say west. If she said south, Xiao Jingting wouldn’t say north.

Sun Miaomiao’s face flushed red, feeling her heart full of grievances.
