Coming out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Chen Xu looked at the marriage certificate in his hand, still feeling a bit unreal.
He had actually gotten married.
And to Si Ye.
“What’s wrong?” Si Ye walked up, wrapped an arm around his waist, and led him toward the parking lot.
Chen Xu pulled himself out of his thoughts, shook his head, and said, “Nothing, it just feels a little unreal.”
“You’ll get used to it,” Si Ye said, his eyes carrying a faint smile, seemingly in a very good mood.
Since they needed to deal with the company’s board and catch them off guard, the two would not announce their marriage for now.
So, even though today was the day they got their certificate, after signing it, they went their separate ways.
After dropping Chen Xu off at YC Corporation, Si Ye returned to his company.
“Chairman, aren’t you going to celebrate with Young Master Xu?” Secretary Jiang asked curiously during a red light.
“Pushing too hard will have the opposite effect,” Si Ye replied.
He knew that Chen Xu didn’t love him yet.
This move was just a way to secure him for now, but he hadn’t completely bound him.
If he acted too eagerly, it might scare Chen Xu away.
Secretary Jiang nodded thoughtfully, then reported, “Chairman, Miss Bai has invited you to a dinner meeting. What should I tell her?”
Si Ye took a moment to recall who Miss Bai was.
After thinking for a moment, he remembered and rejected it coldly. “Not available.”
“Understood.”
Although Si Ye had always kept himself clean, there were still plenty of rumors about his supposed girlfriends.
Some people who wanted to cling to him would deliberately make vague and misleading statements, making it seem like they had an ambiguous relationship with him.
Si Ye never bothered dealing with these rumors unless they got out of hand.
Otherwise, he ignored them completely.
Recalling that Chen Xu had previously asked him if he would marry Bai Churui, Si Ye lifted his gaze from his computer screen and asked, “How long is the company’s contract with Bai Churui?”
Secretary Jiang thought for a moment and replied, “It should expire in early September.”
“Don’t renew it.”
Si Ye didn’t want unnecessary people affecting Chen Xu’s emotions.
In his past life, he had also heard rumors about Bai Churui marrying him.
Now, thinking back, Chen Xu must have asked that question because of those tabloid rumors.
Secretary Jiang paused for a moment, then replied, “Understood, Chairman.”
Bai Churui was a rising actress at the peak of her career.
If she didn’t mess up, she had a bright future ahead.
Under normal circumstances, the company would renew her contract.
But since Si Ye had already decided, Secretary Jiang naturally wouldn’t question it.
—
Chen Xu walked into YC Corporation. As soon as the receptionist saw him, she felt a flash of amazement, thinking he might be a newly debuted celebrity.
“Hello, I’m looking for Wang Jian.”
Suppressing her excitement, the receptionist asked, “Do you have an appointment?”
“Yes.”
“Alright, I’ll contact Manager Wang now. Please wait a moment.” She called Wang Jian and informed him.
“Manager Wang will be down shortly. You can wait in the lounge.” She led Chen Xu inside and even brought him snacks and drinks.
Her eyes were full of admiration.
“Thank you,” Chen Xu nodded politely, feeling slightly unaccustomed to her enthusiasm.
“You’re welcome! I’ll be at the front desk, so let me know if you need anything.”
Because he needed to take a marriage certificate photo, Chen Xu had dressed formally today. He wore a white dress shirt, neatly combed his hair, and didn’t wear any accessories. His fair skin had a soft ivory glow under the sunlight, and his peach blossom eyes were bright and lively. Sitting on the sofa quietly, he looked exceptionally well-behaved.
“A little beauty just arrived. He’s waiting in the lounge for Manager Wang.”
“Where?! Why didn’t you call me to see?”
“I don’t know where Manager Wang found such a beauty, but his looks are out of this world! Even better than Xiang Xiuhe!”
“That’s too much. No matter how handsome a random person is, he can’t possibly be better than Xiang Xiuhe—he’s the top idol!”
“Wait until you see him yourself. I swear he’s even better looking. If this guy debuts, I’m definitely becoming his fan!”
As they chatted, Wang Jian strode into the lounge and soon led out a tall, slender young man.
He was talking animatedly, while the young man beside him had a cool, composed expression and carried himself with an air of nobility.
“…Wow—where did this little prince come from?!”
The previously skeptical receptionist covered her mouth to stop herself from squealing.
The other receptionist smirked proudly and said, “Told you so.”
Chen Xu didn’t notice the excitement of the two receptionists and followed Wang Jian upstairs. Wang Jian introduced the company to him and explained that the advertisement shoot was very simple, telling him not to be nervous.
Since Chen Xu had experience performing on stage, he wasn’t nervous at all. He calmly nodded and looked around with mild curiosity.
The advertisement shoot lasted two days, and YC was very satisfied with the results. They even asked if Chen Xu was interested in joining the entertainment industry, but he shook his head and said he would be starting university soon.
YC’s employees were shocked to learn that he had just finished the college entrance exams—they had assumed he only looked young, but he really was young.
Receiving a decent paycheck, Chen Xu went to the mall and bought a silver tie clip with a small embedded diamond, low-key yet luxurious.
When Si Ye returned home in the evening, Chen Xu walked downstairs in his slippers.
“Why aren’t you asleep yet?” Si Ye naturally wrapped an arm around his back and asked in a low voice.
“Waiting for you.”
Chen Xu didn’t resist Si Ye’s closeness; in fact, he seemed very used to it. He had no idea how turbulent Si Ye’s emotions became the moment he lifted his face and said those two words to him.
Chen Xu followed Si Ye upstairs. Tonight, Si Ye didn’t seem to have any intention of working. He went straight into the bathroom and told Chen Xu to wait outside while he took a shower.
Chen Xu nodded obediently. As soon as Si Ye entered the bathroom, he wandered around the room.
He had slept in Si Ye’s room twice before, but both times he had left in a hurry. This was his first time taking a closer look at the space.
Si Ye’s room was mainly decorated in black, white, and gray—cold yet elegant. The room was enormous, about three times the size of Chen Xu’s own, with a door leading to the study.
Walking to the bar counter, Chen Xu stretched his neck to look at the liquor cabinet. There were many types of alcohol, mostly strong liquors, but in the middle, there was a single bottle of sweet wine, standing out oddly among the rest.
Looking closer, he realized that this was the same kind of wine he had drunk on the night he was reborn.
What a coincidence—Si Ye liked it too.
“Want to try some?”
Si Ye’s voice suddenly sounded from behind him.
Chen Xu turned his head abruptly, suddenly unsure of where to place his gaze.
Si Ye had just come out of the shower, wearing a loosely draped bathrobe. His toned calves were visible, and the fabric at his chest had slipped open with his movements, revealing glimpses of well-defined abs.
He casually dried his black hair with a towel, water droplets falling from the tips of his hair, sliding down his sharp nose before landing on his hollowed collarbone, forming tiny ripples.
The overwhelming masculinity in the air made the previously spacious room suddenly feel suffocating.
Chen Xu lowered his gaze. “No, I was just looking.”
“Really? I can make you a drink,” Si Ye offered, his voice somehow even deeper and more alluring than usual—perhaps because he had just taken a shower.
Chen Xu hadn’t even started drinking, yet he already felt lightheaded.
Si Ye walked behind the bar and scanned the bottles before skillfully taking down two. His movements were smooth—not flashy, yet so mesmerizing that it was impossible to look away.
“Here.”
Si Ye placed a blue-and-white layered cocktail in front of Chen Xu.
“Thank you.”
Chen Xu took a sip. The alcohol taste was faint, mostly fruity flavors—it almost felt like he was being coaxed like a child.
“The juice is pretty good,” Chen Xu said as he downed the whole drink in one go, then looked at Si Ye with a subtle challenge in his eyes.
Si Ye chuckled. He had been worried about the little one getting drunk, yet the little one didn’t appreciate his kindness at all.
“Do you remember what you did last time you got drunk?” Si Ye teased.
Chen Xu’s face instantly heated up.
He remembered.
Si Ye had told him that after drinking, he had begged to be pampered.
“Still dare to get drunk?” Si Ye smirked as he watched his ears turn bright red.
Chen Xu, feeling rebellious, raised his chin slightly. “Next time, if I say anything ridiculous, Uncle Si, just don’t take it seriously.”
“Really? Don’t take anything seriously?”
Si Ye’s eyes darkened slightly as he looked at him meaningfully.
After a brief silence, Chen Xu rubbed the back of his flushed neck and muttered, “Some things should be taken seriously, some things shouldn’t.”
“Little one, do you know that you’re acting spoiled because you know I dote on you?”
Si Ye leaned over the bar and ruffled his soft black hair.
His fringe fell over his eyes from the movement, blocking his view slightly. He didn’t catch the smile on Si Ye’s face.
“Didn’t Uncle Si spoil me first?”
Chen Xu admitted openly that he was taking advantage of Si Ye’s indulgence—and he had no intention of changing.
Si Ye chuckled softly and kissed the top of his head.
“Yes, I did.”
Chen Xu suddenly felt a bit lightheaded.
But hadn’t he just drunk juice?
Why was he feeling dizzy?
“Uncle Si, I feel dizzy,” he murmured, tilting his head back slightly. His eyes were tinged with red, and even his lips looked rosy and damp.
“That’s what happens when you drink too fast, little drunkard.”
Si Ye pinched his nose lightly, stepped out from behind the bar, and scooped him up.
Chen Xu instinctively wrapped his arms around Si Ye’s neck and buried his face against his chest, letting out soft little sounds.
Si Ye carried him to the bed and was about to stand up when he realized he couldn’t move.
Chen Xu was clinging to his neck, unwilling to let go.
“Be good, let go,” Si Ye coaxed patiently.
But the little drunkard refused to listen.
Not only did he cling to his neck, but he also leaned up and rubbed his face against Si Ye’s cheek, like a soft little animal.
“Don’t go.”
Si Ye’s heartbeat suddenly sped up.
His gaze traced over Chen Xu’s face, finally landing on his rosy lips, which still carried a faint scent of alcohol.
His Adam’s apple bobbed.
After a moment of hesitation—
He lowered his head.
