ARBRMW : Chapter 29

Just as Si Ye’s lips were only a fingertip away from Chen Xu’s, Chen Xu suddenly opened his eyes, staring directly at him with clear, bright eyes.

The gaze made Si Ye feel slightly guilty, as if he had been caught doing something wrong.

After a few seconds of silent eye contact, Chen Xu was the first to speak.

“Uncle Si, what are you doing?”

His gaze was clean and straightforward, making Si Ye, who had been about to take advantage of the situation, suddenly feel a pang of guilt.

“Ahem, nothing,” Si Ye said, pulling back slightly and giving a light cough.

Chen Xu was still slightly drunk, his mind dazed. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a small gift box, and stuffed it into Si Ye’s hand.

“For you.”

Si Ye looked at the small box in surprise. Opening it, he found a silver tie clip inside.

“You stayed up waiting for me just to give me this?”

Chen Xu nodded and said, “Mm, I just got my paycheck. I thought this tie clip would suit you, so I bought it.”

“Thank you for speaking up for me, for giving me gifts, and for arranging the celebration dinner.”

His speech was slightly slow, clearly still intoxicated, but his gaze remained sincere and pure as he looked at Si Ye.

Si Ye reached out and pulled him into an embrace, gently stroking the back of his head.

“No need to thank me. You deserve all of it.”

Chen Xu grabbed the lapels of Si Ye’s bathrobe, lifted his face, and suddenly kissed him on the cheek, flashing a bright, innocent smile.

“Thank you, Uncle Si, you’re really nice.”

Si Ye was momentarily stunned.

This child kept surprising him.

His emotions surged, a thousand words forming in his heart—but before he could speak, he looked down and saw that his little one was already asleep, breathing softly like a sleeping piglet.

Helplessly, Si Ye pinched his nose lightly, adjusted his position, and covered him with a blanket.

Since Chen Xu refused to let go of him, Si Ye simply lay beside him, turned off the lights, and slept with him.

Lying next to Chen Xu for the first time, Si Ye couldn’t fall asleep.

Once asleep, Chen Xu liked to gravitate toward warmth.

Si Ye moved a little to the side—only for Chen Xu to unconsciously follow him, pressing close until Si Ye was almost pushed off the bed.

Once Si Ye stopped moving, Chen Xu finally settled down, snuggling into his arms and sleeping soundly.

Si Ye stared at his face in the dark, feeling his body tighten painfully.

Chen Xu didn’t even give him the chance to take a cold shower.

He would get his payback in the future.

By the time the morning light seeped in, Si Ye had barely slept for a couple of hours, causing him to wake up late.

Chen Xu woke up first, rubbing his eyes. As his vision cleared, he saw a handsome face up close.

Looking further down, he saw a broad, toned chest.

The sight shocked him to his core, as if he had just watched something indecent in public.

Why was he sleeping with Si Ye?

Did something happen last night?

His mind was a mess.

He vaguely remembered Si Ye making him a drink that tasted like juice. He had thought it was weak and downed it in one go, only to feel dizzy a while later.

After that, his memory went blank.

Judging from the fact that he had woken up alone in Si Ye’s bed before, it was likely that he had crawled into bed on his own again.

So, what had he done last night?

Chen Xu ruffled his messy hair, trying to recall.

He checked himself—there were no suspicious marks.

Si Ye was still wearing his bathrobe.

Nothing irreversible had happened.

After confirming that they had only slept in the same bed, Chen Xu finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Just as he was about to get up, a strong arm suddenly wrapped around his waist, pulling him backward.

Si Ye held him close, stroking the back of his head.

“Sleep a little longer.”

Si Ye’s morning voice was deep and husky, sending a shiver down Chen Xu’s spine and quickening his heartbeat.

And then, something even more alarming happened.

As he tried to turn away, he failed to escape—and because he was now facing away from Si Ye, he could clearly feel something pressing against him.

The position was… extremely awkward.

Being a healthy adult, Chen Xu instantly understood what it was.

His face turned bright red.

In his previous life, even at twenty-two, he had been rather indifferent toward such things.

He had rarely handled it himself, spending most of his energy on drawing, sports, and outdoor activities.

He loved playing basketball, running, cycling, and hiking, so he had never felt the need.

Si Ye, on the other hand, was twenty-eight, a man in his prime, with no partner or lover.

It was perfectly normal for this to happen in the morning.

Although logically, he understood, being the one who had to face the situation firsthand, he wanted to dig a hole and bury himself.

He tried to quietly slip away, but Si Ye’s grip on his waist was too strong.

His struggles only made things worse—the presence behind him became even more obvious.

Chen Xu’s face burned even redder, and even his forehead broke out in a thin layer of sweat.

“What time is it?”

Si Ye’s deep voice suddenly sounded right next to his ear.

Chen Xu’s heart skipped a beat.

He quickly glanced at the alarm clock.

“Eight-thirty,” he said, his voice trembling slightly, praying Si Ye wouldn’t notice his nervousness.

Si Ye didn’t immediately let go.

Instead, he leaned in and took a breath near the back of Chen Xu’s neck.

Feeling the warm breath against his skin, Chen Xu almost jumped out of his arms.

Even his toes curled up in embarrassment.

Seeing how red Chen Xu’s face had become, Si Ye knew that if he kept teasing him, he might explode.

So, he mercifully let go.

Chen Xu scrambled off the bed, grabbed his slippers, and bolted out of the room.

Si Ye chuckled to himself, lazily adjusting his robe before heading to the bathroom.

As soon as Chen Xu stepped downstairs, Tong Jiaxi grabbed his wrist.

“You’re coming down from the third floor this early?” Tong Jiaxi questioned in disbelief.

The heat that had just been smothered came rushing back.

Chen Xu shook off Tong Jiaxi’s grip and replied coldly,

“It’s none of your business.”

“Chen Xu, how can you be so shameless?! Running off to seduce Uncle Si without any sense of shame! Don’t think that just because Uncle Si spent over six million on you, you can be proud of yourself. That kind of money is nothing to him!”

Tong Jiaxi pointed at Chen Xu, cursing in frustration.

Chen Xu’s expression turned completely cold. He slightly lifted his chin and looked at Tong Jiaxi with a haughty gaze.

“Six million might be just a drop in the ocean for Uncle Si, but that still depends on whether he’s willing to spend it on you, doesn’t it?”

The words struck Tong Jiaxi like a slap, leaving him red-eyed with anger, unable to retort.

Chen Xu was right—Si Ye had plenty of money, but he had never spent it on him.

“You! Chen Xu, you’re shameless! If the people online who worship you knew that the top scorer of the college entrance exam was sleeping with his own uncle, they’d spit on you!”

The thought that Chen Xu might have already succeeded in seducing Si Ye made Tong Jiaxi’s teeth grind with fury.

Chen Xu was just a pretty face—why should he be the one to get special treatment from Si Ye?

Clearly, he was the one who had admired Si Ye the longest.

“Do you believe that with just one word from me, you’d be kicked out of the Si family?”

Chen Xu’s tone was calm, as if he were stating something completely irrelevant.

A wave of coldness rushed over Tong Jiaxi. His entire body felt frozen.

“You… Chen Xu, you can’t do that! Uncle Si wouldn’t let you be so reckless!”

In Tong Jiaxi’s mind, and in the minds of everyone else except Chen Xu, Si Ye was cold and ruthless, someone who never let personal emotions affect his decisions.

No one could change his mind.

Tong Jiaxi was convinced that Si Ye was only playing with Chen Xu for fun, that it was impossible for Si Ye to actually listen to whatever Chen Xu said.

Otherwise, where would Si Ye’s authority as head of the Si family go?

“Is that so?”

Chen Xu smiled mockingly.

“You can go ahead and try.”

His arrogance made Tong Jiaxi instinctively hesitate, suddenly afraid to provoke him further.

“If you bother me again, I will do exactly as I said.”

Leaving behind that warning, Chen Xu turned and walked back to his room.

Tong Jiaxi stood frozen in the corridor, biting down so hard that he almost shattered his teeth.

He had to find a way to ruin Chen Xu.

Even if Si Ye wanted to be with someone else, it definitely shouldn’t be Chen Xu.

Someone like Chen Xu didn’t deserve him.

Back in his room, Chen Xu took a shower, changed into fresh clothes, and checked his phone.

While he had been showering, Si Ye had sent him a message.

He clicked it open—and immediately felt his face heat up.

Si Ye: “Why run away? We’re legally married.”

Chen Xu wanted to argue that their marriage was fake, but legally, they were indeed husbands.

Little One: “I didn’t say anything weird last night, did I?”

Si Ye, looking at the message, smirked.

Changing the subject when he couldn’t answer—so cute.

Si Ye: “Not too weird.”

Chen Xu frowned.

What did he mean by not too weird?

Little One: “What did I say?”

Si Ye’s smile deepened.

He pressed record and sent a voice message.

Seeing the audio message pop up, Chen Xu didn’t hesitate to play it.

Si Ye’s deep, rich voice flowed through the phone—

“You kept calling me ‘husband.’”

The last two words made Chen Xu’s entire face burn red.

That’s impossible!

Then, suddenly, he realized—he was being teased.

Little One: “Uncle Si, people who lie will have their noses grow longer.”

Si Ye laughed softly, his voice low and indulgent.

In the driver’s seat, Secretary Jiang was stunned.

The Chairman just laughed!

Out loud!

So, even a cold-hearted man like the Chairman isn’t immune to love…

Si Ye: “I was joking. You didn’t actually say that. But you did keep clinging to me and wouldn’t let me go.”

Chen Xu didn’t doubt him this time.

Because Si Ye’s explanation finally made sense—that was probably why they had woken up in each other’s arms.

Alcohol was the devil.

Chen Xu patted his own head, swearing to himself that he would never drink again.

After Chen Xu’s warning, Tong Jiaxi stopped bothering him.

Si Yichen was busy with his internship.

With peace and quiet, time passed quickly, and before he knew it, it was time to start school.

Si Yichen had his driver take him to campus early, not wanting to arrive at the new school with Chen Xu in the same car.

Didn’t Chen Xu hate being driven around?

Fine. He could go live his poor, pathetic life.

But when Si Yichen later found out that not only had Chen Xu not struggled to bike his way to school, but had been personally dropped off by Si Ye, he was so furious he could barely breathe.

If he had known earlier, he would have insisted on riding with them, just to prevent this from happening.

“You’ll be in military training for the next two weeks, and all students have to stay on campus,” Chen Xu reported to Si Ye.

“Mm. I had someone put sunscreen in your luggage—make sure you use it. Don’t get sunburned.”

Si Ye, sounding like a concerned parent, reminded him of everything.

Chen Xu liked hearing Si Ye’s nagging.

He could feel the genuine care in every word.

Si Ye accompanied Chen Xu to register and pay his tuition.

As they walked across campus, the two of them attracted attention wherever they went.

Some people even secretly took photos.

Chen Xu’s dormitory was on the third floor, and Si Ye carried his suitcase up effortlessly.

Seeing Si Ye, who looked so refined and untouchable, acting like his personal porter, Chen Xu felt a little embarrassed.

If people knew about this, they would probably be shocked speechless.

“Uncle Si, did you also live in a four-person dorm when you were in college?”

“No. Mine was a two-person dorm, with separate bedrooms and a shared living room.”

Hearing that only four-person, six-person, and eight-person dorms were available, Si Ye had the urge to pull some strings and let Chen Xu live at home instead.

But seeing that Chen Xu wasn’t interested in special treatment, he held back.

“That sounds like a graduate dorm.”

In his previous life, Chen Xu had also lived in a four-person dorm.

His room was known as the “Scholar’s Dorm”—all four of them were top students.

During exam week, classmates kept coming over, hoping to absorb some of their academic luck.

“After military training, you’ll be coming home, right?”

Si Ye asked, still a little worried.

Chen Xu nodded. “I will.”

Hearing the confirmation, Si Ye’s mood immediately improved.

When they entered the dorm, one of his roommates was already there.

A quiet-looking guy with black-framed glasses, neatly dressed, though his clothes looked a little worn—a sign that his family wasn’t wealthy.

Seeing them come in, he nervously nodded in greeting and continued making his bed.

Since the guy was busy, Chen Xu didn’t disturb him.

He picked a bed by the window.

The dorms had bunk beds with desks underneath, and everything looked pretty new.

“Uncle Si, sit here. I wiped the chair for you.”

He quickly wiped it down and let Si Ye sit while he unpacked.

“I’ll help,” Si Ye offered.

Chen Xu cleaned the table and bed first before starting to make the bed.

Si Ye handed him everything from below.

Just as they were settling in, another roommate walked in—a tall, cheerful-looking guy.

“Wow, I’m not even the first to arrive! Hey, guys!” he greeted them energetically.

“Wow! Our dorm actually has so many handsome guys!”

The last roommate to arrive was also alone. He wore a pink T-shirt and light blue ripped jeans with a huge hole at the knee, exposing his smooth, fair skin.

As soon as he entered, a strong perfume scent filled the room—so strong that Chen Xu instinctively took a step back.

Wu Bin frowned, clear disgust in his eyes.

Zhu Yaoyuan, ever the friendly one, took the initiative to greet him and introduced the dorm members.

“Hello, I’m Tang Zhen. You can call me Zhenzhen,” he said, flashing a flirtatious smile at Zhu Yaoyuan.

Even someone as outgoing as Zhu Yaoyuan felt a little overwhelmed, forcing out an awkward smile.

Chen Xu finished setting up his bed and left the dorm with Si Ye.

As they passed by Tang Zhen, he smirked playfully at Chen Xu.

That look confused Chen Xu—he had no idea what it meant.

After setting up his dorm, Chen Xu and Si Ye went for lunch.

Before leaving, Si Ye reminded him—

“If anything happens, call me. And if you feel unwell, tell your instructor immediately, don’t try to push through it.”

“I will,” Chen Xu nodded obediently.

Si Ye leaned in and kissed his forehead.

“Be good. After training, I’ll come pick you up and take you home.”

Chen Xu wanted to refuse, saying he knew the way back, but under Si Ye’s gaze, he couldn’t bring himself to say no.

“Okay.”

After lunch, instead of returning to the dorm, Chen Xu went to the teacher’s office.

“Chen Xu, come here quickly! Our school has a rich kid!”

As soon as Chen Xu reached the dorm entrance, Zhu Yaoyuan excitedly waved him over.

Chen Xu walked over as Tang Zhen stepped aside, making space for him.

Looking down, Chen Xu saw that they were browsing the school forum.

The forum was buzzing about a student who had arrived in a luxury car that morning.

When Chen Xu saw the photo of the car and the person stepping out of it, he felt speechless.

It was Si Yichen.

“Rich and handsome… how are us regular folks supposed to survive?” Zhu Yaoyuan sighed dramatically.

Tang Zhen studied the photo carefully and then bluntly stated, “He’s not as handsome as you.”

Zhu Yaoyuan grinned, “Tang Zhen, you’ve got good taste!”

“Just call me Zhenzhen~”

Tang Zhen threw him another wink.

Zhu Yaoyuan’s smile instantly froze.

“Someone found out his name—Si Yichen. And he scored 703 on the college entrance exam. Damn! That’s insane!”

Zhu Yaoyuan had assumed that rich kids like him got in through money—but turns out he actually had the brains.

Tang Zhen became curious and leaned closer.

“He’s in our major. Damn, I can already feel the pain of being crushed by a genius.”

Zhu Yaoyuan agreed, sighing. “Yeah, he’s probably the top student in our program.”

“How many points did you get?”

Zhu Yaoyuan sighed again.

“I worked my ass off and only got 685.”

Tang Zhen nodded in understanding.

“The gap between top students and normal people is too real. I did a little better—I got 693.”

“Holy sh*t!”

Zhu Yaoyuan stared at him in shock.

“I thought you barely made it in with your carefree attitude, but you’re actually a genius?! Damn, never judge by appearances.”

He then turned to Wu Bin.

“What about you?”

Wu Bin answered softly, “700.”

“700?!”

Zhu Yaoyuan clutched his chest in dramatic pain.

“You guys are monsters! I totally lost. I’m the only trash in this room.”

Then, he suddenly remembered—

“Wait, Chen Xu—how many points did you get?”

But when he turned to ask, he realized that Chen Xu was already gone.

“When did he leave?”

Zhu Yaoyuan had been so absorbed in the conversation that he hadn’t noticed.

Tang Zhen tilted his head and smirked.

“He left a while ago. I think he came back to grab something.”

Zhu Yaoyuan, being the straightest straight guy, couldn’t handle Tang Zhen’s flirtatious behavior.

Chen Xu was better-looking, but why wasn’t Tang Zhen teasing him instead?

If Tang Zhen knew what he was thinking, he’d definitely answer—

Because Chen Xu already looks like he belongs to someone.

At 2 PM, the school was holding a freshman orientation.

Zhu Yaoyuan, Wu Bin, and Tang Zhen had lunch together at the cafeteria before rushing to the auditorium.

Their major had fewer girls, and most of them were bare-faced, with only a few wearing light makeup.

“Hey, Tang Zhen, what do you think of that girl with the ponytail? Cute?”

Zhu Yaoyuan nudged him, eager to discuss.

Tang Zhen rolled his eyes.

“She’s nothing compared to me.”

Zhu Yaoyuan: “…”

So, Tang Zhen really is gay, huh?

Meanwhile, backstage, Chen Xu was reviewing his speech.

He was about to give the welcome address on behalf of the freshmen.

“Chen Xu, I’m sorry, but you won’t be going up to speak after all.”

A middle-aged, balding male teacher walked over and spoke to Chen Xu.

Although he said “sorry,” there was not the slightest hint of apology in his eyes.

“Can I ask why?”

Chen Xu’s face remained cold and unyielding.

“I’ve been preparing this speech all along, and you’re only telling me this now? Don’t you think that’s a bit too much?”

The teacher had assumed that a mere student would be easy to handle, but unexpectedly, Chen Xu was this tough.

Feeling a little irritated, the teacher snapped, “Because I said so. No need for so much nonsense.”

“Really?”

Chen Xu’s expression remained indifferent.

“If you can’t give me a proper explanation, maybe the principal can.”

With that, he turned to leave.

The teacher panicked, worried that this would escalate, and hurried to stop him.

“What’s wrong with you? As a student, you should listen to your teachers! Have you no respect?”

Now clearly agitated, the teacher raised his voice.

Chen Xu stared at him with an icy gaze.

“Do you even know what it means to be an elder who acts without dignity?”

“You—!”

The teacher was furious.

“Do you believe that I can have you expelled right now?!”

He clearly had not expected Chen Xu to be so defiant on his first day.

The commotion caught the attention of the principal, who was preparing to go on stage.

“What’s going on here?”

The teacher rubbed his hands awkwardly and quickly switched to a sycophantic tone.

“Nothing, nothing. This student doesn’t know how to respect his teachers, so I was just teaching him a lesson.”

The principal turned to look at Chen Xu, his gaze lingering for a moment—

And then, recognition flashed in his eyes.

This was the province’s top scorer in the college entrance exam—Chen Xu!

“I didn’t know that your school’s teachers enjoyed going back on their word. If you never intended for me to give this speech, you should have never asked me in the first place. Why waste both our time?”

Chen Xu was blunt and direct, exposing the teacher’s actions right in front of the principal.

“Is that true, Mr. Zhou?”

The principal had now fully grasped the situation.

The teacher, Mr. Zhou, bent slightly and whispered in the principal’s ear—

“Principal, this was Young Master Chen’s request. I’m only doing this for the good of the school.”

The principal immediately understood which “Young Master Chen” he was referring to.

Si Yichen.

The heir of the Si family—not someone their school could afford to offend.

However, Chen Xu was the province’s top scorer.

Even T University and Imperial University had personally called multiple times to recruit him, yet he had chosen their school.

As the principal, he couldn’t let down a student who had bet everything on attending their institution.

“Since it was already decided that Chen Xu would give the speech, then that’s how it should be.”

The Si family had some ties to the school—Si Yichen’s father had graduated from here.

Because of this connection, the Si family probably wouldn’t make things too difficult for them.

“But Young Master Chen…” Mr. Zhou hesitated.

The principal waved a hand dismissively.

“Mr. Si is not an unreasonable man.”

Seeing that the principal had already made his decision, Mr. Zhou reluctantly backed down.

The principal also forced him to apologize to Chen Xu.

Although he did so grudgingly, he still muttered a half-hearted ‘sorry’.

Chen Xu had overheard everything—he now knew that Si Yichen was behind this.

But he wasn’t surprised.

As the principal stepped onto the stage to give his speech, Chen Xu walked over to wait for his turn—

And suddenly, he saw Si Yichen standing at the staircase, wearing a smug, self-satisfied smirk.
