BPTCMW : Chapter 52

“I missed you.”

These words were too beautiful to hear.

The call hadn’t ended yet, and Xia Yang stood frozen, his chest heaving, feeling empty for a few seconds.

The elevator doors had been open for a while, and the lobby manager approached him with concern, “Sir, are you waiting for someone? Can I help you?”

Xia Yang snapped back to reality at the sound.

“Yes, I’m waiting for someone, and they’ve arrived!” His eyes sparkled, and he smiled broadly before turning around and lightly running toward the hotel’s entrance.

The wind whooshed past his ears, lifting his bangs. He ran through the corridor and the lobby, stopping abruptly at the entrance.

Not far in front of him stood a familiar figure. When Xia Yang turned to look, he locked eyes with that deep gaze.

It had only been a few days since they last met, but Han Yi seemed even more handsome. His obsidian-like eyes held a rare warmth, his eyebrows slightly raised, and the moonlight bathed him in a layer of silver glow.

Xia Yang stared at him as he approached, only speaking when he was right in front of him, blurting out without much thought, “Did you skip work?”

Han Yi: “…”

“Wasn’t there unfinished business?” Xia Yang remembered clearly that Han Yi hadn’t had time to respond to his blessing messages. When asked when he’d return to the country, he had only vaguely replied with “soon.”

His attitude seemed dismissive, almost making Xia Yang want to curse him.

“A little wrapping up. I finished everything during the eight-hour flight.” Han Yi said calmly.

Xia Yang blinked, his eyes widening with surprise and joy. “So, this overseas trip is officially over?”

“Yes.”

“Wow, impressive.” His eyes sparkled with admiration, and he couldn’t help but respect him. “A true time management master. Something we should all learn!”

Han Yi: “…”

“Didn’t you want me to come back?” After a moment of silence, Han Yi looked down and asked.

“Of course, I wanted you back,” Xia Yang’s long lashes fluttered, seemingly reflecting the starlight in his bright eyes. “But you didn’t tell me you were coming back early. You almost…”

“Surprises aren’t fun if you know they’re coming,” Han Yi said, still watching him. “I wanted to surprise you on New Year’s Eve.”

**Surprise.**

The word felt like a feather landing on his heart. Xia Yang looked at the man before him in disbelief, not expecting such words from the usually icy Han Yi.

“Did the romance of France change you?”

“Earlier…” Before he could finish, a massive fireworks display erupted above them, lighting up the night sky. Fiery bursts danced against the twilight, casting a cascade of vibrant star showers and trailing tails.

Xia Yang looked up, eyes wide with amazement, forgetting what he was about to say.

“Fireworks! There really are fireworks! Look!” He excitedly grabbed Han Yi’s hand, pointing to the sky.

The splendid, dazzling lights illuminated their faces, reflecting in their eyes, making their pupils shine brightly.

Han Yi’s expression remained calm. He glanced briefly at the fireworks before returning his gaze to the young man’s excited face.

A burst of golden fireworks accompanied his voice, blending with the stars and the clarity in his eyes.

“There are two more shows,” he said softly.

“Huh?” Xia Yang felt a little shocked, pulling his gaze from the fireworks. “What do you mean? These fireworks… you set them off?”

Han Yi looked into the starlight in his eyes and nodded, “I arranged them.”

Xia Yang: “!!”

Xia Yang: “What other secrets are you hiding that I don’t know about?”

Han Yi: “.”

The grand display lasted over half an hour, turning night into day, like inlaying the sky with jewels or adorning the night with a brilliant galaxy.

After the immersive experience, Xia Yang reluctantly looked away, patting Han Yi with a smile, “Mr. Han, I never knew you liked fireworks as much as I do.”

“Is that what you think?” Han Yi turned to meet his sparkling eyes.

Xia Yang tilted his head, raising an eyebrow, “Isn’t it?”

“No, I’m not interested in fireworks. I’m interested in someone who likes watching them. You understand what I mean, right?”

Bang—Xia Yang felt like his heart was thrown into boiling water, pounding hard.

He fumbled for words but couldn’t speak for a long time.

The fireworks gradually faded, silence returned, and he heard Han Yi’s voice again, close to his ear: “Let’s go, New Year’s Eve. Let’s go home together.”

**Together, go home.** Warmth flooded Xia Yang’s heart, his eyes still dazed.

After a few moments, he shook his head, which felt hot, and followed Han Yi to the parking lot.

As they started walking, a large hand firmly grasped his wrist, the warmth seeping through to his fingers.

Han Yi… was holding his hand!!

They got in the car, the doors closed, the partition between the driver and backseat went up, and the engine roared. As the car moved, Xia Yang’s head felt dizzy.

Everything that happened tonight—unbelievable, surreal things he had never seen in Han Yi before—flashed through his mind like a movie.

He thought and thought, held back and held back, finally unable to contain it. He asked quietly, “Mr. Han, it feels like something’s off about you this time.”

“What’s off?” Han Yi’s fingers tapped lightly on his knee.

“Just…” Xia Yang searched his mind for the right words.

But he couldn’t put that feeling into words.

It was a certain guess, a certainty that a particular answer existed in his heart.

But there was also the worry of a “what if”—what if that answer wasn’t Han Yi’s, but just his own wishful thinking?

“Well, I can’t quite put it into words. Anyway, you’re just… off.” He scratched the back of his head, saying something meaningless.

Han Yi’s gaze lingered on his face for a while. Finally, he smiled softly and said, “Nothing’s off. It’s just that compared to before, there’s someone I care about.”

Boom—

The words hit Xia Yang like a bomb, leaving his mind blank. Even if he were a fool, he couldn’t miss the meaning behind them.

The answer was clear…

**Care** was one of the most tender words in the world. It wasn’t flirtation; it wasn’t teasing. It was a sincere and direct expression.

More delicate, softer, and more touching than “I like you.”

His heart pounded loudly in his chest, so loud he worried Han Yi might hear it because they were too close.

After a long while, he licked his dry lips and remembered something, “But doesn’t this mean you’re breaking our agreement?”

Han Yi: “…”

“Should I make a banner, awarding it to the most diligent party—Mr. Xia Yang?” Han Yi took a deep breath and spoke seriously.

Since their marriage, this excellent partner had diligently followed the agreement as if it were a code of conduct, prohibiting anything non-compliant.

The last time someone followed rules this strictly was probably the country’s Constitution?!

“Do you really care about that agreement?” Han Yi looked at the surprise in his eyes and shook his head.

It was a question he had asked before.

“Yes, I care,” Xia Yang’s answer was almost the same as before. “I’m the second party; I do my job and stick to the agreement.”

“I tore it up,” Han Yi said, looking away, speaking each word clearly.

Xia Yang: “…”

Xia Yang: “???”

Xia Yang: “!!!”

He was stunned for a few seconds before his eyes widened. “You… you tore it up! You… you’re tearing up my hundred million!”

Han Yi: “…”

Han Yi: “…………….”

Was this little money-grubber bad at math? Couldn’t he see the bigger picture? If they divorced in three years, he would indeed get a hundred million.

But the living husband in front of him could earn a hundred billion a year.

Assets are dead; a husband is alive. How could he not see which was more attractive?

Han Yi took another deep breath, curling his fingers to calm himself.

After a moment of silence, he looked at the person in front of him and calmly said, “It was my fault. I shouldn’t have torn up the agreement without consulting you.”

This was the first time Xia Yang had seen the big boss admit a mistake. He was stunned for a few seconds before quickly waving his hand, “It’s not about fault…”

“It doesn’t matter,” Han Yi interrupted, “It’s just a hundred million. I can give it to you now or compensate you later. But before that, I want you to promise me one thing.”

“Huh?” Xia Yang’s mind was still a tangled mess, “What is it?”

“Give me a chance to court you.”
