BPTCMW : Chapter 54

After finishing their prayers, the two left the temple. Xia Yang walked ahead, his head lowered, as Han Yi’s earlier words kept echoing in his mind.

All three wishes were about him. Especially the last wish about liking him, which had completely disrupted his thoughts. He couldn’t even think of what to wish for himself.

In the end, he only wished for “world peace” and “the prosperity of the country.” Hearing this, the passersby gave him thumbs up and praised him a lot.

They walked down the mountain path, out of the resort area, and back to the car. Xia Yang’s heart was still bubbling with emotions.

Thankfully, he was wearing sunglasses and a mask, which concealed the slight blush on his cheeks.

He took off his mask and sunglasses, rubbed his cheeks, and stole a glance at Han Yi. Han Yi was also silent, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.

After a long while—

“Ahem, do you want something to drink? I have mineral water, cola, and Yakult,” Xia Yang cleared his throat, breaking the silence first. Pretending to be thirsty, he buried his head in his backpack to find something.

Han Yi snapped back to reality, tapped his fingers on his knee, and didn’t respond directly. Instead, he brought up another topic.

“Are you feeling uncomfortable?”

“Huh?”

“People usually choose to drink water tactically when they feel stressed and anxious,” Han Yi turned his face to look at him.

“No, no, I really am just thirsty,” Xia Yang lowered his eyes to deny it, fiddling absentmindedly with a bottle of cola. It took him a while to unscrew the cap.

The pressurized carbonation “popped” and sprayed out, not only soaking his pants but also splashing onto Han Yi’s luxury car.

“Sorry, sorry,” Xia Yang quickly tightened the cap and put the cola down, hurriedly opening the car drawer to find tissues. Just then, his wrist was caught by a warm hand.

Han Yi pulled out a few napkins and turned his body, gently helping him wipe the cola stains off his pants. As he wiped, he said:

“You don’t need to feel anxious. Although I hope you can like me, I won’t force you to make a choice, nor will I pressure you. This is a matter between the two of us. Take your time, I’m not rushing you.”

Hearing his deep, magnetic voice, Xia Yang curled his fingers. A complex emotion filled his heart, like soft petals falling, rippling in the winter lake.

That feeling was subtle and wonderful.

“Where do you want to go next?” Han Yi finished wiping, put away the tissues, and glanced at his watch. “It’s a bit early for lunch.”

“Um,” Xia Yang snapped out of his thoughts and glanced out the window. He saw a few small horses tied up on the other side of the resort area, with staff talking to some tourists who seemed interested in riding.

“Hey? Is there a stable here?” he asked curiously, craning his neck.

Han Yi followed his gaze. “Not a stable. It’s an outsourced project by the resort to attract tourists. Do you want to ride a horse?”

“…I can’t. I got kicked by a horse when I was a kid,” Xia Yang shook his head, shrugging, but then his eyes lit up. “But I’d like to see you ride.”

Outside, a tourist had already mounted a horse. The man was tall and wearing a cap, looking quite cool even though his face was hidden.

For a moment, Xia Yang imagined Han Yi riding. Horse riding is a thrilling sport, and seeing a high-cool guy like Han Yi doing it must be an incredible sight. He really wanted to see it!

“Can you? Show me your mighty prowess!”

Han Yi noted the anticipation in his eyes, paused, then buckled his seatbelt and said, “I never ride in resort areas. If you want to see, I’ll take you to a proper riding club.”

“Alright, let’s go! To the riding club!”

The car sped north for about half an hour until they arrived at the destination — the “Lingfeng” Equestrian Club.

The club covered a vast area, with excellent outdoor conditions. The English-style buildings and beautiful horses immediately gave away its high-end status.

As soon as the car pulled in, a man in a suit and tie came out to greet them, his name tag reading “Business Manager.” It seemed he knew Han Yi.

Han Yi nodded slightly, acknowledging the greeting.

“Big shot, you must come here often,” Xia Yang said, looking around the club. Everything here fascinated him.

“Do you need to get some kind of membership, like the ones that cost tens of thousands per year?”

“I don’t need one,” Han Yi said. “I’m one of the investors in this club.”

Xia Yang: “…”

Xia Yang: “Impressive, flaunting wealth in such a subtle way!”

Han Yi: “?”

They arrived at the standard stables area, which was large, housing over a hundred horses of various breeds and functions.

“Do you have horses here?” Xia Yang asked, looking at the tall horses.

“Yes,” Han Yi pointed to a few separate stalls on the other side of the corridor. “The second and third stalls are mine.”

Following his direction, Xia Yang saw two tall horses, one brown and one white. They were handsome and elegant, with high, proud necks. Even at a glance, they were clearly the most expensive thoroughbreds.

“Wow, these guys look like you,” Xia Yang said, gently petting the horse’s neck through the wooden fence. “No wonder they’re your ‘kids’!”

Han Yi: “…”

Just as he was about to say something, a cheerful voice called out from behind.

“Mr. Han! It’s really you! Why didn’t you let us know you were coming?”

Han Yi turned at the sound and saw a middle-aged man with a big smile jogging toward them.

He remained calm and took a step forward. “It was a last-minute decision to come.”

“Sorry for the lack of welcome,” the middle-aged man said, looking surprised and respectful. His gaze shifted to Xia Yang, hesitated for a moment. “And this handsome guy is…?”

Not wanting to reveal his identity, Xia Yang pulled up his mask and adjusted his sunglasses, mumbling, “Hello, I’m…”

“He’s my idol,” Han Yi interrupted, “You only need to know that I’m his admirer.”

Xia Yang: “!!!”

Club Manager: “!!!”

The manager thought he misheard, his mouth forming an O shape. “Mr. Han… you are the handsome guy’s admirer?”

“That’s right,” Han Yi said.

Glancing at their stunned faces, Han Yi gestured toward the brown horse. “Bring out Joffa. My idol wants to see me ride.”

The manager quickly complied. “Okay, okay, please wait a moment.”

As the man scurried off to fetch the horse, Xia Yang tugged on Han Yi’s sleeve and whispered, “Mr. Han, why are you saying such things?”

What idol, what admirer? His face couldn’t handle this right now; he’d blush at the slightest provocation.

“I’m not saying anything wrong,” Han Yi’s expression was serious. “I’m stating the truth. You’ll get used to it.”

Xia Yang: “…”

Twenty minutes later, Han Yi emerged from the changing room in equestrian gear. The white shirt paired with a dark vest and black leather boots highlighted his strong, elegant physique. Xia Yang stared at him, momentarily entranced.

Han Yi usually wore dark colors. Seeing him in such formal white today, he looked just as fitting. The cold, abstinent vibe combined with his natural nobility and his perfectly structured face hit all of Xia Yang’s aesthetic points.

“So handsome,” Xia Yang couldn’t help but praise, swallowing. “That waist, those legs…”

Truly a stunning sight.

It was a sunny day, with gentle sunlight. There was a polo match at the club, with familiar faces from the business circle, people Han Yi knew.

Han Yi initially planned just to ride a few laps. Still, the others enthusiastically invited him to join the match, and with Xia Yang encouraging him, he hesitated but eventually agreed, a rare occurrence.

Many elite business figures showcased their skills on the field. It was a rare sight, drawing a sizable crowd in the spectator area, including both professional equestrians and tourists.

Han Yi mounted Joffa with a graceful swing of his leg, holding the mallet and waving towards Xia Yang.

“Wow, he’s so cool!” Two young women nearby squealed, covering their mouths in excitement. “Is he waving at us? Oh my god, I’m going to faint! Hi, handsome! Hi!”

Xia Yang glanced at them through his sunglasses and quickly turned back, tightening his mask and hat.

The referee signaled the start, and Han Yi galloped along the inner circle, his strong legs gripping the stirrups. His sleek body moved fluidly with the horse. He performed a swift S-turn, dodging his opponent, and with a perfect backhand, sent the ball straight into the goal.

“Nice! Scored!” His partner raised the mallet, tapping it against Han Yi’s in celebration.

“I’ve heard Mr. Han is exceptional at polo. Today, I see it’s true!” The partner reined in his horse, smiling.

“Thank you,” Han Yi said calmly, reining his horse and glancing towards a specific spot in the stands.

The two young women jumped up and down excitedly again.

“He looked at us again! I’m so happy!”

“No, he looked at me! Look at me, darling!”

Xia Yang closed his eyes briefly, his mouth set in a straight line. He could tolerate strangers calling Han Yi “handsome,” but “darling” was crossing the line.

“Darling” is exclusive and not for sharing.

But considering his special status and not wanting to be exposed, he swallowed his irritation and moved to a spot further from the two women.

His attention returned to the match. The referee signaled the start again, and the players galloped, chasing after the ball.

Han Yi aimed for the opponent’s goal, the horse’s hooves kicking up clods of grass, making the scene even more intense than before. His partner was ahead, ready at the goal, passing the ball to Han Yi. Just as he swung his mallet, Han Yi leaned sharply to the side, almost falling off the horse.

Gasps filled the air, and Xia Yang’s breath caught, sweat beading on his forehead.

He stood up abruptly, his fingers clenched tightly. “Han Yi—” he called out, his voice trembling.

But it turned out he needn’t have worried. Han Yi executed a perfect maneuver, flattening himself almost parallel to the horse’s back. His long arm swung high, sending the ball soaring.

“Score!”

“Incredible!”

Cheers erupted from the crowd. Xia Yang exhaled a long breath, feeling an overwhelming urge to run into the field and hug the dazzling man.

Behind him, two visiting equestrians were quietly discussing, their voices carrying to his ears.

“Mr. Han doesn’t play often, but when he does, he crushes the competition. His skill level is almost professional.”

“No kidding. Those moves are smooth and daring. Without strong core muscles, he’d definitely fall off.”

Listening to their conversation, Xia Yang caught a keyword, and his heart skipped a beat. He couldn’t help but smile.

Ten minutes later, the match ended. Han Yi handed Joffa to the groom and walked toward the spectator area.

The two young women, still buzzing with excitement, waved their arms frantically. They seemed to have bet on who Han Yi was looking at earlier.

But Han Yi walked straight towards Xia Yang, not deviating even half a centimeter. His cold, black eyes seemed to block out everyone else.

Under the women’s disappointed yet surprised gaze, he smiled faintly, raising his arm to gently wrap it around Xia Yang’s shoulders.

“Are you cold? Do you want to try riding a lap? I can lead the horse for you.”

Xia Yang hesitated, then quickly shook his head. “No, thanks. I’m good with watching. It was thrilling enough.”

“Okay,” Han Yi nodded, not pressing further. He kept his arm around Xia Yang, looking down at him. “Did you enjoy the show?”

“Yes, very much,” Xia Yang said, showing him a bunch of photos he had taken. “Do you know what the equestrians said about you?”

“What did they say?”

“They said you’re practically professional, with great form. They also said anyone who can do tricks like that must have an amazing core strength!”

“Really,” Han Yi slowed his pace, a flicker of something in his dark eyes. “So, does that add to my appeal?”

“Huh?” Xia Yang was momentarily confused. “What appeal?”

“Core strength,” Han Yi repeated, clarifying, “A crucial factor when considering a potential partner.”
