BPTCMW : Chapter 66

“I’ve been considering that too,” Xia Yang said seriously.

Whether it’s a relationship or a marriage, a happy relationship should be out in the open, basking in the sunlight, and receiving blessings.

He didn’t want to always be cautious, worrying about being photographed or spotted whenever they hugged or kissed.

“How about… we make it official on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year?” he suggested, fluttering his eyelashes.

“The sixth is your birthday,” Han Yi said, holding his hand tightly, fingers interlocking, his eyes filled with gentle warmth. “It’s a good day for an announcement.”

“Right~” Xia Yang smiled, pausing for two seconds before adding, “But before that, I have something important to take care of.”

“What is it?”

“I need to come clean with my manager first.”

Han Yi looked at him and said, “If you find it difficult, I can talk to him.”

“No need, I can do it,” Xia Yang said, giving Han Yi’s hand a reassuring squeeze. “For love, I can face any difficulty.”

Honesty should not be delayed. That evening, as soon as he got home, he called his manager.

There was a noisy commotion on the other end of the line, making it unclear where the manager was at this hour.

“Qi Ge, do you have a moment? I need to talk to you about something.”

“I’m out discussing business,” Qi Le said. “Go ahead, make it brief.”

“I’m married,” Xia Yang said straightforwardly, keeping it as brief as possible.

“Okay, I know—what???” The manager’s voice halted abruptly, his volume suddenly increasing by eight decibels, and then he began rattling off words like a machine gun. “You’re married? When did this happen? Did I hear that right? Are you drunk or am I?”

“You heard right, and neither of us is drunk. I’ve been married for a year.”

Manager: “…”

Manager: “!”

He felt like his brain was being tangled up like a ball of yarn.

“But didn’t you say before that your family forbade you from dating?” The manager suddenly recalled how Xia Yang had used that excuse to refuse his recommendation to join a dating show.

“Yes, because my family had arranged a betrothal for me and my husband when we were kids, so they didn’t want me to get involved with anyone else. As soon as I reached the legal age, we got married!”

Manager: “…”

He was speechless.

Truly wealthy and indulgent parents, arranging a betrothal for two boys.

Didn’t they realize it was a waste not to combine such excellent genes to create new life?

He held his jaw, which was about to drop from shock, and tried to gather his thoughts for a while before finally asking, “So who is your husband? Don’t tell me he’s another popular star; that would be an earthquake.”

“No,” Xia Yang said. “He’s Han Yi, the person I’ve been filming the reality show with. He’s not a celebrity.”

“Not a celeb…” The manager gasped, his mind going blank again. After a while, he found his voice, raspy, “Yang, he’s not just a nobody. No one dares to call him that.”

“Oh?” Xia Yang was puzzled. “Then what should I call him? A VIP?”

Manager: “…”

Manager: “Call him a big shot, call him a god.”

This level of shock was no less than that of a top-tier celebrity.

Now, when he reconsidered all the puzzling matters from before, everything suddenly made sense.

Why Xia Yang, still relatively unknown, could land the luxury cruise ship advertisement for Cloud Peak Group, airing for a whole month on major city squares across the country.

Why his small studio, with barely any resources, could attract investment from major industry giants.

Why his first film project had such a top-notch production team, with the director even adding more scenes specifically for him.

So that’s how it is. So that’s how it is.

The importance of marrying well.

“Thanks for letting me know in advance. I’ll go back immediately to prepare the PR plan for you. If Mr. Han has any thoughts or opinions, he can contact me anytime. I’m always online, always reachable,” the manager spoke quickly.

Xia Yang paused, “Okay. Thanks, Ge.”

“It’s my job!”

Honesty wasn’t as difficult as he had imagined. There were no awkward silences, no storms. Once the manager learned that his husband was Han Yi, his attitude completely changed.

So strange!

Regardless, a weight had been lifted from his heart. Xia Yang put down his phone and ran to the next room.

“I did it! Han Yi!” He burst into the bedroom, shouting.

The large room was empty, with a tie thrown on the sofa. After a brief pause, he heard the sound of water coming from somewhere behind him.

Looking towards the source, he saw the bathroom light was on, the door slightly ajar. Han Yi was likely taking a shower inside.

The sound of the water had a peculiar magic, making his mind conjure up scenes of vibrant spring colors.

With a man as fit as Han Yi, broad shoulders, a strong back, long legs, his naked body must look both desirable and beautiful!

As his mind started to paint these details, he quickly stopped himself, shaking his head to clear away the colorful thoughts.

But then he reconsidered. They were now legally married, even the act itself was protected by law, let alone harmless fantasies.

With a bit of self-convincing, his thoughts became more open, and a mischievous idea popped into his head.

He ran back to his room, grabbed a bar of soap from the sink, then tiptoed back to the bathroom door, slipping the soap through the crack.

“Plop”—the soap hit the floor.

He couldn’t see Han Yi’s reaction inside, but he heard a low intake of breath mingled with the sound of the water.

“Pick up the soap, Han Yi!” Xia Yang covered his mouth, stifling his laughter as he teased his husband.

There was no response from inside. Soon, the bathroom door clicked shut from the inside, the water still running.

Imagining Han Yi’s expression, Xia Yang laughed until his stomach hurt. He giggled for a while before heading back to his room.

Half an hour later, someone pushed the door open. He looked up to see Han Yi walking in.

“Hmm? Finished your shower?” Xia Yang raised an eyebrow, recalling the soap prank.

“Yes,” Han Yi said, his lips curving slightly. “I came to return your soap.”

“Pfft, haha, you’re so polite,” Xia Yang couldn’t help but laugh, pointing to the bedside table. “Just leave it there. I’ll take it back to the bathroom later…”

Before he finished speaking, a shadow loomed over him. The next second, his vision turned upside down as his body was pushed back onto the bed. The tall, muscular man leaned over him.

“Did anyone ever tell you that teasing your partner while they shower is an invitation?” Han Yi’s lips brushed against his ear, his hot breath falling on his neck.

Xia Yang’s body was tightly restrained, his heartbeat chaotic, his eyelashes trembling. It was only now that he realized the “danger” before him.

“I-I-I was wrong. I won’t do it again,” he said, his wide deer-like eyes filled with water vapor, pleading pitifully with Han Yi.

“Wrongdoings deserve punishment,” Han Yi’s hot breath brushed against his ear again.

Xia Yang shrank back, feeling his entire body go numb.

“Not today…” he lowered his eyes, his cheeks flushing a deep red. “Tomorrow is the company annual meeting. I’m a guest performer. If you do anything today, I-I’ll be bedridden.”

Han Yi’s eyes darkened as he raised an eyebrow slightly. “Do what? I haven’t said anything.”

Xia Yang: “…”

Xia Yang: “…”

Damn, he got trapped.

His face turned as red as a ripe peach. Pouting, he huffed, “I didn’t realize you’re a big bad wolf.”

“There are many things you haven’t realized,” Han Yi chuckled. “Take your time to experience them.”

Xia Yang: “…”

They spent a little more time together, Han Yi finally released him and got up.

As he was leaving the room, he paused and turned back to ask.

“My daily question: when will my application be approved?”

“What?”

“Sharing a bed.”

“…” Xia Yang’s heart skipped a beat, his gaze shifting to the floor. “Soon, the committee has discussed it and is processing it.”

“Oh,” Han Yi nodded. “A reliable committee, very efficient.”

Xia Yang: “…”

* * *

The next day was the annual meeting of the Cloud Peak Group, held at a five-star hotel across from the company.

There were no speeches, no employee oaths, no indoctrination. Everything was about relaxation—playing games, drawing lots, and a few employee-prepared performances, followed by a grand seafood feast at 6 PM.

It was also the last day of filming for *Rookie Idols in the Workplace*. After today’s shoot, they would wrap up and wait for the broadcast.

At 1:30 PM, employees began arriving at the hotel’s banquet hall. It was the largest hall in the hotel, capable of accommodating twenty thousand people.

The banquet hall was spacious and elegant, with a dominant sea blue color scheme. Looking up, the ceiling was designed to resemble a starry sky, creating a beautiful blend of the vast sea and the magnificent night sky, enhancing the atmosphere.

The clear and melodious sound of a piano played by a live performer filled the air, flowing like moonlight on the sea.

When Han Yi entered, he didn’t see Xia Yang. Asking the administrative director, he learned that Xia Yang was still rehearsing a dance with his partner in a smaller adjacent hall.

She mentioned that the two had been rehearsing since the morning, barely taking a break for lunch.

After hearing this, Han Yi checked the program list posted in the company’s group chat.

Xia Yang, as a special guest performer, was scheduled to perform a dance with another artist participating in the reality show.

The dance was titled *Burning Passion*.

A very cliché name, Han Yi thought, pursing his lips. He put away his phone and turned to head to the rehearsal room.

The two rooms were close, just a turn and a few steps down.

Han Yi stopped at the door of the rehearsal room. The door was slightly open, and inside, he saw only Xia Yang and a tall young man. A tablet was set up on the table, and lively music filled the room as they gestured and discussed something, neither noticing him at the door.

Standing there, Han Yi quietly watched Xia Yang. His gaze unintentionally shifted to the tall young man, pausing for two seconds as if recalling something.

…This man seemed to be the one whose abs Xia Yang had secretly admired not long ago, accidentally sending a bunch of chest and ab photos to him.

He had claimed it was for a friend and even praised the man’s physique, calling him “super A.”

Even after all these days, that memory remained vivid. Han Yi rolled his throat and took a shallow breath, his gaze indifferent as he sized up the man Xia Yang had personally complimented.

Ordinary.

Really ordinary.

Apart from being half a centimeter taller, there was no way he was more “super A” than him!
