When an Alpha feels unwell, there’s only one solution: treat them.
Ji Mian raised his hand, his fingers threading through Chu Shiye’s hair, releasing a faint glow at his fingertips.
Chu Shiye immediately grabbed Ji Mian’s wrist.
Ji Mian turned his gaze to the Alpha, whose face was still buried in his shoulder, showing no intention of moving.
With a soft voice, Ji Mian asked, “Aren’t you feeling unwell? Let me treat you.”
After a moment of silence, Chu Shiye slowly lifted his head. “I’m fine now.”
Ji Mian: Hmm?
A moment ago, he was so uncomfortable that he couldn’t even speak, and now he’s suddenly fine?
Ji Mian studied Chu Shiye’s face, looking left, then right.
Chu Shiye’s voice was low as he said, “Don’t waste your mental energy on me. I’m really fine.”
Ji Mian thought: How thoughtful.
But from Chu Shiye’s expression, it really didn’t seem like there was anything wrong.
Does this Alpha recover quickly?
Ji Mian ruffled Chu Shiye’s hair and pulled him down to sit. “If you feel unwell again, make sure to tell me.”
Chu Shiye obediently sat next to Ji Mian and gave a quiet “Mm.”
Ji Mian, curious, asked, “How did you manage to use mental suppression earlier?”
Chu Shiye replied, “I learned from you.”
He remembered how Ji Mian fought, unleashing his mental power without hesitation, his eyes glowing with a brilliant blue light.
Earlier, Chu Shiye simply visualized Ji Mian in that moment, focused his mental energy, and managed to release it smoothly.
Hearing this, Ji Mian chuckled softly. “I haven’t even taught you yet, and you’ve already learned. You’re a great student.”
Chu Shiye caught the trace of laughter in Ji Mian’s eyes and asked, “Then, will Teacher teach me more in the future?”
Ji Mian replied warmly, “Of course. Anything you want to learn, I’ll teach you.”
A faint light flashed in Chu Shiye’s eyes. “Alright.”
He inched closer to Ji Mian, quietly.
Ji Mian didn’t notice—he was lost in thought. After a few seconds, he said, “When all of this is over, you should get your mental power level re-evaluated.”
Although most people’s mental power is fixed at the moment of awakening, there are rare exceptions where it grows over time.
The fact that Chu Shiye, with recently recovered mental power, could use mental suppression so effectively indicated that his mental power was far from weak.
Perhaps his mental power had never been at E-level in the first place. It could’ve dropped to E-level due to childhood trauma.
Thinking this, Ji Mian couldn’t help but praise him. “You’re amazing. I always knew you were impressive.”
Chu Shiye looked genuinely happy.
Not far away, Kane, still hiding in the corner, was dumbfounded.
Ever since Su Lan arrived, Chu Shiye seemed like a completely different person.
His expressions were so much more… vibrant!
While Fu Zeren hadn’t yet returned, Ji Mian summoned a guard and gave a few instructions. After the guard left respectfully, Kane seized the chance to speak.
“Mr. Su, what about me?”
Having just faced both the city lord and the Relief Society head, Kane hadn’t dared to make a peep and had stayed hidden in the corner.
Ji Mian glanced at him. “You’ll stay with us.”
Kane nodded quickly. “Alright, alright.”
Fu Zeren was still with Tansen and unlikely to return soon. Ji Mian instructed the guards to set up a private room, where the crazed individuals would be brought in one by one for treatment.
To outsiders, these individuals were afflicted by a strange disease, and only Su Lan, the powerful healing-type ability user, could cure them.
In truth, Ji Mian wasn’t healing them; he was performing mental guidance to calm the chaotic mental energy forcefully awakened by the drugs.
This process had to be done one-on-one. Given the involvement of mental energy, any slight mistake could permanently damage the individual, leaving them in a vegetative state.
Ji Mian proceeded with extreme caution.
The first person brought in was Mark, who was still incoherent.
Back at the school, Ji Mian had sensed Mark’s hostile gaze several times. He suspected Mark had been the one spying on him.
Mark clearly harbored enmity toward Ji Mian and had attacked him first during the school incident.
Now, Ji Mian’s purpose in treating Mark wasn’t to let him off the hook but to uncover whatever secrets he might be hiding—and ensure he was lucid enough to face justice in prison.
A few minutes later, Ji Mian said flatly, “Take him away. Interrogate him thoroughly when he wakes up.”
The guards dragged Mark away without ceremony.
Fu Zeren returned shortly after, entering respectfully. “Mr. Su, the city lord is now under treatment and still unconscious.”
“We examined the device in his eye, and it really is a mental control device.”
Ji Mian, busy guiding the fifth crazed individual, nodded.
Behind him, Chu Shiye approached, with Kane trailing nervously behind.
Realizing they wanted to speak to him, Fu Zeren left the room tactfully.
Outside, Chu Shiye said, “He provided the Relief Society with the drugs, but there was nothing wrong with them when he had them.”
Fu Zeren glanced at Kane, hesitating. “Even so, we can’t rule out the possibility that he was working with the Relief Society…”
Kane exclaimed, “I—I—I’m really a good person!”
Fu Zeren looked back at Chu Shiye.
“The Relief Society added something unique to the drugs—something that doesn’t exist on this planet and that Kane couldn’t have obtained,” Chu Shiye relayed, remembering Ji Mian’s earlier explanation. “You should focus on investigating the Relief Society.”
Fu Zeren nodded firmly. “I’m already preparing to send people. Don’t worry—they won’t escape.”
With Tansen out of the way for treatment, Fu Zeren had ordered the city to be sealed off, preventing anyone from leaving.
Now, hearing Chu Shiye’s words, Fu Zeren decided to personally lead a team to apprehend Joshua.
After relaying the information, Chu Shiye returned to the room and dragged a small stool over to sit beside Ji Mian.
The fifth crazed individual was just finishing treatment. In the shimmering blue light of the Light Goddess Butterfly, Ji Mian turned his head slightly.
Chu Shiye’s gaze was fixed intently on him, unblinking.
Ji Mian couldn’t shake the feeling that this Alpha had become… clingier.
Wait, can “clingy” even apply to him?
Thinking back to how Chu Shiye had been acting strangely ever since his spiritual entity, the small white snake, appeared, Ji Mian fell silent.
To distract himself, he asked, “Is Fu Zeren moving out now?”
Chu Shiye nodded. “Yes, he’s already sealed the city.”
Ji Mian smiled faintly. “Good.”
Ji Mian thought for a moment, then looked at Chu Shiye again.
Chu Shiye met his gaze. After a few seconds, he asked, “Do you want me to go with them?”
Ji Mian: “Can you?”
Chu Shiye fell silent.
If Su Lan asked, of course he could. But… right now, he wanted to stay and guard Su Lan.
“Don’t worry about me,” Ji Mian said, noticing his hesitation, smiling gently.
“If I just let them go, I wouldn’t feel at ease. There are still many out-of-control individuals here, and I can’t leave anytime soon.”
“That’s why I hope you can go and keep an eye on things.”
Chu Shiye looked at Ji Mian, knowing that if he refused, Ji Mian would definitely go himself.
…Why does Su Lan always put others first?
In the end, Chu Shiye nodded. “Alright.”
Ji Mian: “If anything happens, contact me immediately.”
Chu Shiye: “Mm.”
He stood up and walked toward the door, taking two steps before turning back.
Ji Mian noticed the Alpha seemed like he wanted to say something but was too embarrassed to speak.
So, Ji Mian walked over to him.
Chu Shiye didn’t blink, staring at him. After a moment, he said quietly, “When I come back…”
Ji Mian quickly covered his mouth. “Stop.”
Chu Shiye: “?”
Ji Mian: “Don’t jinx yourself with weird flags.”
Chu Shiye: “…Oh.”
He stood there silently, looking at Ji Mian.
A few seconds later, he took a deep breath, as if mustering his courage, and raised his arms.
Ji Mian felt the light pressure of arms falling around his back. He was pulled forward slightly, his face nearly touching Chu Shiye’s chest.
Ji Mian froze for a moment.
Chu Shiye had hugged him.
Just for a second.
In the next moment, Chu Shiye let go just as quickly as he’d embraced him.
He darted a glance at Ji Mian’s face—
Then turned and ran off.
Ji Mian: “…”
