HOLM : Chapter 77

Let’s Go Home

Beams of light erupted from within the planet, splitting its surface apart as if rivers of molten lava were flowing freely. Chu Shiye shielded Ji Mian, barely managing to stand within the gaps between the beams.

This planet had clearly been completely transformed by the Relief Society into one of their most elaborate experiments.

Chu Shiye’s expression remained cold, his mental power seemingly frozen—buried under thick, suffocating layers of ice. Beneath it, there was only silence.

But this only solidified his resolve. This planet, along with the entire Relief Society, had to be eradicated completely.

A hand rested lightly on his arm. Chu Shiye turned to meet Ji Mian’s icy-blue gaze.

A faint glow shimmered in Ji Mian’s eyes as the Light Goddess Butterfly emerged from the dim light around him. Though its form was faint and blurry, it still circled Chu Shiye once, its delicate wings scattering faint specks of light.

Like a sharp spike striking the frozen layers of ice, the butterfly’s light created a tiny fissure. Though slight, Chu Shiye caught hold of it.

“Go,” Ji Mian said softly.

The moment the words left his lips, golden brilliance erupted in Chu Shiye’s eyes, and the white dragon spread its mighty wings, letting out a clear, resonating roar.

Forcing his way through the suppression of his mental power, Chu Shiye’s temples throbbed with searing pain as though his eyes were being torn apart. Yet he didn’t retreat—not a single step.

Behind him was Ji Mian.

With overwhelming momentum, the white dragon charged forward, breaking through layers of blinding beams.

Joshua, observing this, showed no surprise. Instead, he smiled and turned his attention back to Ji Mian.

“Your father cooperated with us long before this,” Joshua said lightly. “He may have thought he was targeted by some mysterious organization because of his ‘extraordinary talents.’ In reality, we were never interested in him.”

Ji Mian’s gaze flickered subtly.

Joshua continued, “You could say… you were born under our watchful eyes.”

The white dragon surged forward, its fierce winds whipping at Joshua’s robes. Yet he seemed unfazed, casually waving his hand.

A beam of light shot up from beneath Chu Shiye and Ji Mian, as though another weight had been dropped onto an already cracking frozen lake. The white dragon’s form wavered, becoming indistinct, and it passed through Joshua as if he were air, leaving him completely unharmed.

Joshua’s tone remained unchanged. “At first, we didn’t know if you’d be a genius or a failure. But that’s the nature of experiments—there’s always uncertainty. We used a small dose of an experimental drug on your mother, which became our first successful trial. Soon after, you were born.”

Ji Mian’s voice turned to ice. “It was you…”

So that was why his mother’s health had deteriorated so severely after giving birth to him.

“We didn’t expect you to turn out to be an S-level Omega,” Joshua continued, ignoring Ji Mian’s accusation, “and an exceptionally rare psychic one at that.” He clicked his tongue and shook his head. “Dorn thought there didn’t need to be a second S-level psychic in this world, so we administered another drug to you.”

“Your talent, however, was so extraordinary that even with the suppression of the drug, you remained S-level—though it at least reduced you to an auxiliary type, which Dorn could begrudgingly tolerate.”

Ji Mian remembered what his mother had told him. When he was born, the hospital had only performed a preliminary test of his mental power, as infants were too fragile for detailed evaluations.

It wasn’t until he was a month old that a formal evaluation determined he was an S-level support-level ability user.

The Relief Society… and Ji Tingyan…

The icy-blue light in Ji Mian’s eyes flickered brighter and darker as he locked his gaze on Joshua. “So, when I left the Capital Star, it was your people who attacked me.”

Joshua smiled faintly. “That wasn’t my order, but I admit I didn’t expect you to survive.”

Ji Mian’s voice was sharp and cold. “Dropping my mental power to B-level—that was also your doing.”

Joshua chuckled lightly. “Ah, that one’s on your father. He tried to shake us off and pretend none of this had happened. That little ‘lesson’ was just a reminder of who he was dealing with.”

Ji Mian’s fists clenched tightly at his sides. The threads of light in his eyes intensified, his mental power rippling subtly even under suppression.

This wasn’t just an attack against him. It was a decades-long web of manipulation, involving his family, his identity, and his abilities—all for the whims of this organization.

And now, it was time to end it.

“Enough of this,” Chu Shiye’s voice cut through the tension, sharp and resolute. His golden eyes gleamed as he stepped forward, standing between Ji Mian and Joshua.

“This ends here.”

Joshua smiled faintly, seemingly amused by Chu Shiye’s defiance. “We’ll see, Your Majesty.”

Beams of light tore through the planet’s crust, fracturing the surface as if molten lava flowed freely beneath. Chu Shiye shielded Ji Mian, steadying them amidst the chaos.

This planet had been completely transformed into the Relief Society’s most sinister experiment.

Chu Shiye’s face was cold as ice, his mental power frozen beneath oppressive layers. Yet his resolve only grew firmer—this planet, along with the entire Relief Society, had to be obliterated.

Joshua stood a short distance away, arms spread wide, his expression smug. “What a magnificent experiment. Even the strongest ability users can be brought under our control. Why resist? Why not join us?”

Chu Shiye replied calmly, “Your progress hasn’t been as successful as you claim. If it had, the entire galaxy would already be under your rule. And you—you’re just a powerless ordinary human.”

Joshua smiled. “True, but does it matter? Look at you—unable to touch me, powerless against me.”

Before he could finish his sentence, his smile faltered.

The scene before him shifted. Ji Mian and Chu Shiye, who had been pinned down by the beams of light, now stood tall as if nothing had happened.

Joshua’s eyes flickered with confusion.

“Thank you for confirming what we suspected,” Ji Mian said, his tone calm as he locked eyes with Joshua. “So, it all started because of you.”

Joshua’s smile froze. “Wait… how are you…”

The icy-blue glow in Ji Mian’s eyes deepened, transforming into a vast, serene light, no longer the flickering glimmer of a distant sea, but the boundless, unyielding expanse of the cosmos.

This wasn’t mental power intimidation—it was pure, unrestrained mental power.

In that moment, Joshua felt as though he was standing alone before the infinite universe. Its overwhelming magnitude and tranquility left his mind blank, rendering him unable to speak a word.

Ji Mian and Chu Shiye’s expressions remained unchanged.

Though Dorn had left few clues behind, he had recorded one thing in his personal journal—a testament to his pride. He had once destroyed another S-level psychic, ensuring no one could rival his brilliance.

The journal had been discovered in Dorn’s private residence, hidden in a safe unearthed when Helena had ordered the house demolished.

“My father loved this house,” Helena had said. “So I blew it up and rebuilt it.”

To everyone’s surprise, halfway through the demolition, they had found the safe containing the journal.

The journal detailed how they had subdued the S-level psychic—by surgically implanting a mental power suppressor in Ji Mian’s brain.

Before coming to this planet, Ji Mian had undergone surgery to remove that device.

Although it would take time for his mental power to fully recover, the planet’s oppressive suppression had ironically acted as a catalyst, allowing him to break free like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon.

In that moment, Ji Mian was no longer an S-level support user. He was the only S-level psychic in existence. The Relief Society’s decades of research into suppressing mental power, even this very planet, could no longer affect him.

He and Chu Shiye had only pretended to be trapped to uncover the final truth.

Joshua laughed, blood dripping from the corners of his mouth as he bit his tongue to force himself back to clarity.

“So that’s it… hahaha! That bastard Dorn—he’s dead, and he still managed to stab me in the back! Hahaha!”

Despite realizing his predicament, Joshua showed no fear or anger. Instead, he spread his arms wide, his expression one of crazed delight.

“Go ahead, kill me! To die at the hands of my first experiment—it’s the perfect end!”

Ji Mian smiled faintly. “No, I won’t.”

Joshua’s grin froze for a split second before a cold blade flashed.

Chu Shiye’s dagger struck cleanly, its sharp edge glinting as blood splattered through the air.

Joshua collapsed, and in his final moments, a look of bitter resentment crossed his face.

Why he felt such bitterness, no one cared anymore.

Ji Mian closed his eyes, the glow in his gaze fading. His body wavered slightly.

Chu Shiye rushed forward, catching him in a tight embrace.

Leaning against Chu Shiye’s shoulder, Ji Mian murmured, “Let’s find your uncle and grandfather first, and then…”

Before he could finish, Chu Shiye completed the thought. “Then we’ll go home.”

Ji Mian chuckled softly. “Mm, let’s go home.”

But first, he needed to rest…

Ji Mian tugged lightly at Chu Shiye’s sleeve, smoothing out a wrinkle before leaning against him and closing his eyes.

Chu Shiye lowered his head, his cheek brushing against Ji Mian’s soft, dark hair.

After years of psychic suppression, it would take time for Ji Mian to fully recover.

The Empire’s fleet landed on the planet as Chu Shiye carefully draped his coat over Ji Mian, cradling him as he stood.

A ray of warm light broke through the sky.

Dawn had ended.

Daylight had come.
