HOLM : Chapter 85

Parallel World (Part 6)

In the year 3225 of the New Star Calendar, Emperor North of the Empire suddenly passed away. The official cause announced to the public was severe illness—

Not long after, on the Federal Capital Star, the head of the Ji family was imprisoned for betraying the Federation, destined to spend the rest of his life in a sunless prison.

The Empire’s young Crown Prince ascended to the throne. On his coronation day, there was supposed to be a grand and elaborate wedding ceremony that he had prepared for his former Crown Princess, now Empress.

Unexpectedly, the new Emperor’s Empress ran away.

Only a handwritten note was left in the bedroom. No one knew what expression crossed the new Emperor’s face when he saw its contents, but they knew that a pursuit order was issued instantly. The new Emperor’s fury, accompanied by overwhelming imperial power, immediately wove an invisible net covering the entire Empire’s territory.

During this period, the Imperial Capital Star experienced an unprecedented bone-chilling winter cold, and the vast palace felt as if it had plunged into an ice cave—

Fortunately, the Empress’s whereabouts were quickly discovered.

His airship had been hovering around the Empire’s borders, inexplicably not leaving. The moment it was discovered, an Imperial fleet blockaded that airship.

The new Emperor was aboard the flagship of the Imperial fleet. He dismissed everyone around him and boarded Ji Mian’s escape vessel alone.

The cabin door opened, and the man shrouded in gloom emerged from the darkness. Ji Mian sat on the sofa, seemingly not feeling his situation was dangerous at all, even tilting his head back with a light laugh: “You know they can’t contain me.”

Chu Shiye walked over without saying a word, looming over Ji Mian and pressing down on his shoulders, his eyes rimmed with red, his voice hoarse to the extreme: “Why?”

Why did you run?

Why did you leave me?

Ji Mian looked up at him: “I think maybe I should give you some explanation, but it’s hard to explain in just a few words. It’s better to meet face to face.”

To Chu Shiye’s ears, this sentence was tantamount to “After I finish talking to you, I’m going to leave.”

In an instant, his brilliant golden eyes seemed to flow with cold, murderous light, and even his expression became somewhat twisted: “Don’t even think about leaving. I won’t let you go.”

The hand pressing on his shoulder used so much force it hurt. Ji Mian was slightly surprised.

From the moment Chu Shiye entered, he felt this Alpha’s reaction wasn’t quite right, and now… Chu Shiye’s appearance was downright terrifying.

Even when confronting the father who had killed his mother, this former Crown Prince, now the Empire’s new Emperor, had never shown such an out-of-control expression.

One of his hands was gripped tightly by Chu Shiye, as if afraid he would run away, refusing to let go no matter what.

Ji Mian even suspected that if there weren’t tools at hand, this Alpha might tie him up.

Thinking of something, after a brief moment of shock, Ji Mian spoke: “You don’t actually like me, do you?”

Chu Shiye: “…”

Chu Shiye’s eyes grew even redder: “Are you just realizing this now?”

Ji Mian: “…”

Several minutes later, the two sat on the sofa, facing each other in silence.

Ji Mian closed his eyes.

However, since Chu Shiye’s emotions weren’t very stable, he didn’t want to provoke him, so he spoke gently: “I thought you didn’t like me. After all, when we first met, you were quite cold to me.”

Chu Shiye: “…”

He said quietly, “That’s not true.”

Actually, it was love at first sight.

The first time he saw Ji Mian, he felt this person was his destiny, the only one he would walk through life with.

It’s just… having such thoughts about Ji Mian at their first meeting made him feel a bit embarrassed, so he didn’t dare face Ji Mian directly.

Ji Mian: “…Ah.”

So that’s how it was?

Chu Shiye looked at him with bloodshot eyes again: “So, is that why you left?”

Ji Mian: “…No.”

This was a lie.

He had originally thought that he and Chu Shiye were merely in a marriage of convenience. Afterward, they had been honest with each other, clearly stating it was mutually beneficial.

Now that they had both achieved their respective goals, perhaps this marriage, which had been connected by interests from the beginning, no longer had any reason to exist.

At least, he thought that’s what Chu Shiye believed, so he chose to leave first.

“Becoming the Empire’s Emperor will eventually require an heir,” Ji Mian said. “In this regard, I can’t help you.”

Chu Shiye: “I don’t need offspring. The royal family has collateral bloodlines.”

Ji Mian: “I’m from the Federation, not truly an Imperial citizen. Perhaps some people would mind this greatly.”

Chu Shiye: “No one dares to mind.”

Ji Mian: “Hmm…”

Ji Mian looked at Chu Shiye calmly: “Because I’m the only S-level psychic type, is that why you want me to stay?”

He had once been an S-level support-type ability user.

But now, he no longer needed to hide—he was a true S-level psychic type.

But as soon as he finished speaking, Ji Mian saw Chu Shiye’s eyes grow even redder.

“Is that what you think of me?”

Ji Mian remained silent.

Chu Shiye couldn’t endure it anymore. He embraced Ji Mian, holding him tightly, his arms trembling slightly yet solid as steel, firmly locking Ji Mian in his embrace.

No matter what, he had to bring this person back.

Whether Ji Mian was willing or not, he would hold onto this person tightly.

He would never let him go.

Chu Shiye buried his face in Ji Mian’s warm neck, deeply inhaling this person’s scent, the blood-red light in his eyes still present, turbulent emotions surging within him.

Ji Mian looked at this Alpha who was holding him tightly, buried against his body.

So aggrieved.

Both angry and sad, utterly, utterly wronged.

In this moment, he could clearly sense Chu Shiye’s emotions, understanding that this person’s feelings for him might truly be as he had said.

Ji Mian silently raised his hand, his fingers threading through Chu Shiye’s hair. Chu Shiye’s body stiffened at first, then slowly relaxed.

Neither of them spoke. Chu Shiye held Ji Mian while Ji Mian gently stroked his head.

After a while, Ji Mian softly said: “If you really want me to go back… that’s also possible.”

Chu Shiye immediately looked up, staring at him intently.

Really?

Ji Mian: “Really, I’m not lying to you.”

Chu Shiye, unsure if he believed him or not, held Ji Mian even tighter.

A little tighter.

Ji Mian patted Chu Shiye’s back.

Chu Shiye lowered his eyes, his voice growing quiet: “Do you like me?”

He wanted to get a response from Ji Mian, yet he also knew clearly that regardless of what Ji Mian’s response was, it wouldn’t change the outcome.

He would bring Ji Mian back and lock him by his side forever, not allowing his Omega to leave even half a step.

Ji Mian seemed to see through Chu Shiye’s thoughts and smiled lightly: “What do you think—why is this airship still here, not having left the Empire?”

Like dawn light breaking through, Chu Shiye’s originally dim eyes suddenly brightened.

Ji Mian met his emotionally turbulent gaze and continued smiling: “Originally, I…”

Before he could finish, Chu Shiye bit his lip.

Ji Mian: “…”

It hurts a bit.

Are you a dog?

But soon, Chu Shiye proved he could be even more excessive.

He loosened his tie, wrapping it around Ji Mian’s slender wrist, the dark satin falling against pale skin like ink stains that couldn’t be erased from snow.

“Such an impatient person… ah…”

The Empire’s new Emperor had departed from the Imperial Capital Star with murderous intent and a gloomy expression, but when he returned, the cold aura around him had dissipated, and he had returned to being the new Emperor who showed no emotions.

Except he was a bit clingy with his Omega.

Holding Ji Mian, not letting go.

Ji Mian: “Remember to let go when we reach the palace.”

Chu Shiye said nothing.

He silently kissed him.

Ji Mian: “…”

The galaxy fell beyond the porthole, and the Imperial Capital Star shone like the most brilliant star in the Milky Way.

Chu Shiye held Ji Mian’s hand, gazing deeply at him, his tone carrying some hesitation and caution, but more of an indescribable tenderness and attachment: “Shall we go home?”

Ji Mian met Chu Shiye’s gaze and smiled, patting this Alpha: “Mm, let’s go home.”
