AFMD : Chapter 19

Story 3 : “Entertainment Circle Transformation Plan : Fatherhood”

In order to rectify the atmosphere in the entertainment industry and promote positive energy, Fengqi Entertainment recently launched a celebrity transformation program, allowing the public to vote for the star most in need of transformation in the entertainment industry.

Wen Biyan, with his extremely high popularity and equally notorious bad temper and obsession with cleanliness, received a significant number of votes.

Joining him were three others.

Together, they were known as the “Four Great Troublemakers of the Entertainment Industry,” boasting exceptional looks akin to national treasures. Despite enjoying the adoration of countless fans, due to various absurd incidents, they were criticized and scorned daily, with calls for them to be driven out of the entertainment industry.

Wen Biyan, his legs stretched out on the coffee table, was on the verge of bursting with irritation and sharpness in his eyes.

“Why do I have to go? And take a child?” Wen Biyan was almost laughing out of frustration. What kind of absurdity was this?

“Because the other three have agreed. If you don’t go, it will be a huge loss of face. I can already imagine how the antis will mock you for being a coward. Besides, it’s not long, just three episodes, totaling only a month,” the agent persuaded earnestly.

Wen Biyan’s studio released the news of Wen Biyan’s first participation in a reality show, and fans spread the word like wildfire: “Great! Wen Biyan is finally going to learn how to behave! Excitedly spreading the news like a group of antis.”

The most challenging part is undoubtedly taking care of a child, especially a mischievous one.

The program team selected several three or four-year-old children through national auditions, looking for those who resemble the stars in appearance, have good personalities, can communicate, and preferably have some acting skills. Although the requirements were high, given China’s vast population, suitable candidates could surely be found.

The only trouble was with Wen Biyan, because of his slight foreign ancestry. It was extremely difficult to find a child who looked like him.

In the end, the director spotted a four-year-old boy at a kindergarten. His appearance was so similar to Wen Biyan’s that some even believed he was Wen Biyan’s illegitimate child.

The child was born to Gu Xi.

Gu Xi was fair-skinned and gentle, with a smile that curled his lashes upwards. During his college years, he had dated Wen Biyan for two years, but their relationship was discovered by Wen Biyan’s family during their graduation year. Wen Biyan’s father secretly pressured Gu Xi.

Wen Biyan, filled with jealousy, would often vent his frustrations on Gu Xi, who was left powerless. Gu Xi felt drained by Wen Biyan’s behavior, was often distracted during his final project, leading to reprimands from his mentor and harassment from Wen Biyan’s father. Yet Wen Biyan remained unreachable.

In the end, Wen Biyan’s father used some underhanded tactics, causing Gu Xi to to break up with Wen Biyan. He cried all night and ultimately decide to let go. But Wen Biyan exploded in anger, questioning Gu Xi why he wanted to end things. Gu Xi spoke calmly, and said things like nobody could endure his temper, and if they didn’t break up now, they would eventually do later.

In reality, Wen Biyan was indeed hot-tempered, but Gu Xi could easily calm him down, turning him from a teddy bear into a golden retriever. Gu Xi had long figured out ways to deal with Wen Biyan.

After their breakup, Wen Biyan’s temper worsened, but as he rose to fame in the entertainment industry, he remained unchanged.

After the breakup, Gu Xi found out he was pregnant. With his family’s poor financial situation and inability to work due to pregnancy, life was initially difficult. Things improved slightly over the past two years, but raising a child in a big city was costly, and Gu Xi wanted to provide the best education for his child.

Gu Xi heard that a director had taken a liking to his child and was considering him as a partner for Wen Biyan, which he strongly opposed. Setting aside the trouble exposing his identity would bring, he couldn’t bear to let his child be with Wen Biyan.

But Xiao Baozi1 had his own ideas, when the director offered a high price, equivalent to Gu Xi’s two years of salary, he persuaded his dad to accept, he didn’t want him to work two jobs anymore.

Gu Xi was soft-hearted and couldn’t speak the truth. When Xiao Baozi looked at him with those black grape-like eyes so similar to Wen Biyan’s, he lost all resistance.

The only time in his life he defied Wen Biyan was when they broke up.

“Alright. If anything happens, make sure to call me” Gu Xi looked at Xiao Baozi who only reached his thigh, extremely worried. “But don’t let your new dad hear you calling me.”

“Also” Gu Xi felt a bit embarrassed as he scratched his cheek, instructing his son, “If your new dad misbehaves, take care of him for me.”

This reality show, with its sarcastic name, delved deep into every aspect of life. Gu Xi truly feared Wen Biyan’s image being tarnished and him being banned from the industry. Compared to his well-behaved son, it was obvious that his child’s father was the one to worry about.

Xiao Baozi’s large, black eyes were filled with curiosity. In his impression, the only time his dad had asked him to take care of someone was when he was in kindergarten and his dad told him to look after a girl in his class.

After thinking it over, Gu Xi decided to tell the truth. “Because Dad did something wrong to Dad Wen before, I hope you can be good to him for me”
During the reality show, Xiao Baozi and Wen Biyan, with their striking resemblance, immediately gained a group of fans who loved them both. Their contrasting personalities, with Wen Biyan being dominant and Xiao Baozi being gentle and cute, led fans to mockingly say, “I wish I had given birth ten years later, who would still be a fan of you!”

Wen Biyan: “Are these real fans or fake ones?”

On the first night of the show, the production team required them to cook their own meals. However, the scrutiny wasn’t strict, and the other three celebrities all confidently ordered takeout. The more rebellious and edgy the celebrities, the happier the director was, and netizens couldn’t stand watching, immediately criticizing them, which spiked the show’s popularity.

Wen Biyan also intended to order takeout. These four villains, none of them knew how to cook, nor did they have any intention of truly transforming.

“Dad, eating takeout isn’t good for you” Xiao Baozi, soft and gentle, tugged at Wen Biyan’s trouser leg and said sweetly.

Wen Biyan sneered inwardly, his lips curling into a smirk as he made eye contact with Xiao Baozi, preparing to announce their decision to order takeout for all their meals from now on.

“…”

One hour later.

Wen Biyan, with severe cleanliness issues and little patience, was unable to rid his hands of the smell of onions and garlic, with oil stains splattered on his clothes. He stared at Xiao Baozi who was devouring his food, beginning to question the meaning of life.

Xiao Baozi : “Little bun” , the child nickname
