AFMD : Chapter 31

Following the last time when Fang Yuhan was sent home in a flurry due to the “stepmother” rumor, Mrs. Fang was surprised to see her son limping back.

“Did you and Qin Zhan have a fight?” Mrs. Fang asked.

Fang Yuhan: I was the one who was unfairly pinned down and bullied on the bed.

But he couldn’t say this to Mrs. Fang. How embarrassing would that be?

Fang Yuhan subconsciously defended Qin Zhan: “It’s nothing, I just slipped and fell on my way back.”

The city had been snowing since last night, and today was a cloudy day. The accumulated water on the ground had turned into ice, making everywhere an ice rink. Fang Yuhan had just stepped out of Qin Zhan’s residential area when he had a disastrous three-in-a-row fall, looking like a fallen immortal with his face covered in ice chips.

Mrs. Fang looked worried. “Are you okay? Let me get some medicated oil from the cabinet. Should I help you with that?”

“Thanks, Mom, I can do it myself.” Fang Yuhan was afraid that his mother would see the hickeys if she lifted his clothes, which would make it embarrassing to come home in the future.

He gritted his teeth and walked steadily into the bedroom, threw himself onto the bed, feeling like his bones were being rearranged.

Fang Yuhan took off his pants with difficulty and glanced backward, startled by the bruises on his buttocks.

He had fallen too hard!

Fang Yuhan kicked his pants to the bottom of the bed and saw that his knees hadn’t been spared either.

Already sore from Qin Zhan’s rough handling, now his injuries were escalating. When he slipped at the entrance of the residential area, he thought about going back to Qin Zhan’s apartment, where it would be closer and more comfortable. But then he thought, it would be embarrassing to come out all dirty and disheveled.

Fang Yuhan lay on the bed, his face calm but secretly massaging his tailbone under the covers, left three circles, right three circles, feeling the medicated oil seeping in.

With his head resting on his arm, he pondered the earth-shattering revelation of the day.

Qin Zhan had sent someone to follow him.

No matter how you looked at it, this was a frustrating thing. He knew Qin Zhan did it out of misunderstanding, and he could tolerate Qin Zhan’s restraint when the misunderstanding didn’t affect his life. But once he knew he was being followed, he wouldn’t be so tolerant.

Hmmph.

Even if it were just bodyguards, it would be fine.

But even after he fell so badly, nobody came out to help him!

Was Qin Zhan being stingy? Paying only for detectives and not bodyguards? And then, did someone expressionlessly take photos of him lying flat on his back and send them to Qin Zhan?

Fang Yuhan’ train of thought went astray, and he pounded the bed in anger. Even the CEO who used an alloy ring as a token was unshakable.

Qin Zhan: “That’s not true, I didn’t, and I haven’t proposed yet.”

Ten minutes later, the doorbell rang. Mrs. Fang enthusiastically opened the door. Qin Zhan was holding a bunch of New Year goods, followed by five assistants, each carrying a bundle, looking like suitors from the olden days.

It was the first time Qin Zhan and Fang Yuhan were visiting Fang’s home together, and it was close to the New Year, which made it significant. At least they needed to understand Fang’s parents’ preferences and cater to them, instead of just showing up with a bunch of New Year goods to save the day.

Mrs. Fang was delighted. “Just having you here is enough. Why did you bring these things? Little Pen [Fang Yuhan] didn’t mention anything early. We’re not prepared at all. Mr. Fang went out to play chess. I’ll call him back… Oh, Fang Yuhan, Qin is here!”

Fang Yuhan’ hand froze on his buttocks. He pretended not to hear.

Qin Zhan changed into cotton shoes, placed his leather shoes next to Fang Yuhan’, nodded slightly, and apologized, “I came in a bit of a hurry today. Please forgive me, Auntie Fang. I actually came to explain to Little Pen. He misunderstood some things.”

Mrs. Fang was very astute. When she thought of Fang Yuhan returning home looking dejected last time because of groundless rumors, she probably had an idea. She smiled and said, “He’s inside. You two should communicate more. Qin Zhan, Little Pen is a bit out of tune sometimes. You have to explain things to him a few more times. If it doesn’t work, let me talk to him.”

“Little Pen is fine; it’s my negligence.”

Fang Yuhan listened to his mom and Qin Zhan’s conversation inside, blushing like a red egg. He thought of getting up to lock the door, but as soon as he lifted his leg, he gave up on that idea.

“It really hurts.”

Qin Zhan opened the door and saw Fang Yuhan wrapped in a blanket, resting. Immediately, he cautiously closed the door and walked briskly to the bedside. He was about to lift the blanket when he asked, “What’s wrong? Still hurting? I applied medicine last night, isn’t it working?”

Fang Yuhan brushed away his hand.

Thinking that Fang Yuhan was angry about the photos, Qin Zhan half knelt beside the bed, took Fang Yuhan’s hand, and kissed it. A strong smell of herbal oil filled the air, but Qin Zhan didn’t mind for the moment.

Fang Yuhan quickly pulled his hand back. Damn, he had used that hand to massage his buttocks.

“I didn’t have someone take the photos. Remember Zhang Lili? She happened to be nearby on vacation and saw you guys. She took the photos and sent them to me without my consent.”

Fang Yuhan dredged up the memory of this rival and became even more displeased. “How could that be such a coincidence? You were in cahoots.”

“Who’s in cahoots with her? I’ve only been in cahoots with you in my life.” Qin Zhan lifted the blanket. “It’s not a coincidence. We’ve met so many times before it can be considered a coincidence… Let me see your back.”

Qin Zhan instantly froze. The bruises on Fang Yuhan’s buttocks were too severe. It wasn’t just the tooth mark on the hip that was the worst, but the entire area was bruised and red from Fang Yuhan’s rubbing, hot to the touch.

“What happened?” Qin Zhan looked at him, not sure where to touch, feeling extremely heartbroken. “They were almost gone this morning.”

Fang Yuhan suddenly felt that this was a perfect opportunity to play up.

He turned his head, tensed his buttocks for a moment, and the pain from the muscles’ movement immediately brought tears to his eyes.

Fang Yuhan blinked, pretending to be pitiful. “I said I didn’t want it anymore… It’s all because of you. I can’t move. When I was a child, even a slight bump in the garden would result in bruises after two days. Mrs. Fang was so worried… You don’t care about me at all…”

Passing the buck was so easy, no worries in bed.

Qin Zhan knew that Fang Yuhan had delicate skin and would turn red from just a pinch, having been pampered since childhood, afraid of even holding things too tightly. But he deliberately restrained his strength, making sure it was only red and not bruised. Did he accidentally apply too much pressure last night? Did the bruising only show up after a day?

Qin Zhan knelt and blew gently on Fang Yuhan’s buttocks. “Little Pen, I’m sorry, I was wrong. It won’t happen again.”

Fang Yuhan sneered, “You’re just saying that. You won’t even sign a contract.”

“No one relies on contracts to live together. We’re not business partners.” Qin Zhan coaxed him. “Husbands should be tolerant of each other. You give a little, and I’ll give a little. I’ll be gentler in the future, control myself better, and make sure this situation doesn’t happen again. If I mess up again, I’ll sleep in the study for a month.”

Fang Yuhan replied, “Twice a week.”

Qin Zhan: “No time limit.”

Fang Yuhan took advantage of being an injured party: “If you go overtime, deduct five points. If you reach five points, you sleep in the study.”

He pouted, even his small dimples filled with intense grievance. “You just don’t care about me.”

“I do care.” Qin Zhan was helpless. Was getting into bed like giving a PowerPoint presentation now? And deducting points for going overtime? But he couldn’t refuse when he looked at Fang Yuhan’s buttocks. He had to coax his wife properly, so he wouldn’t run away at every little thing.

“Alright, I—”

Fang’s mother timely entered, “Qin Zhan, I just boiled some eggs, take them to massage Little Pen, he fell just now, not sure how swollen he’ll be…”

Qin Zhan quickly covered Fang Yuhan with the blanket and had time to sort out the information from Mrs. Fang’s words.

So he fell?!

Fang Yuhan, still in shock, was interrupted by his own mother. He gave up and pulled the blanket over his head, pretending to be dead.

Qin Zhan calmly stood up and took the boiled egg, “Thank you, Auntie, I need this.”

As soon as Fang’s mother left, Qin Zhan mercilessly lifted the blanket and pressed his fingers on the tailbone.

Fang Yuhan yelped, “You promised me earlier, you can’t go back on your word.”

Qin Zhan patted his thigh, “What did I promise you? Don’t move, let me see.”

“Let’s go to the hospital and get an X-ray. Otherwise, I won’t be at ease.” Qin Zhan went straight to the closet and found Fang Yuhan a pair of fleece-lined pants. “Fang Yuhan, one thing at a time. We’ll discuss the bed later. You’re injured and still dare to play tricks, delaying your recovery. Don’t blame me for making it real.”

“I won’t dare… I don’t want to go to the hospital.” Fang Yuhan pleaded. Every time he went to the hospital, he was treated like a VIP by the nurses. He didn’t want to be really gawked at this time; it would be too embarrassing.

“No, you can’t move.”

Exaggeration comes with a price.

Fang Yuhan was carried to the hospital by Qin Zhan on his back. At first, he felt frustrated, like he had stolen the chicken but lost the rice. But as they went along, he suddenly felt relieved and hugged Qin Zhan tightly.

Being carried by the person he liked felt really different. It’s just going to the hospital, after all.

As it turned out, there was no bone fracture. The doctor knowingly prescribed some topical ointment and let him rest.

On the way back, he was still being carried by Qin Zhan. Qin Zhan gently patted Fang Yuhan’s buttocks. “In the future, listen to each other’s explanations before acting impulsively, okay?”

“Okay.”

On New Year’s Eve, both families gathered for dinner, and the atmosphere was harmonious and joyous. Fang Yuhan was slightly tipsy, holding hands with Qin Zhan as they watched the New Year’s fireworks by the river.

Thousands of fireworks soared into the sky, bursting into golden meteor showers, filling the sky with streamers of various colors. The sky and the earth were as bright as day, welcoming the arrival of the new year.

Qin Zhan knelt down on one knee, holding a blue velvet box in his palm, containing two simple rings nestled together.

“Fang Yuhan, let’s get married.”

Fang Yuhan looked down at Qin Zhan and the rings in his hand, feeling that both were more dazzling than the fireworks. His eyes were a little teary, and he looked at Qin Zhan without saying a word.

Qin Zhan took out another document from his pocket. For a moment, Fang Yuhan thought it was their marriage certificate already prepared, but it turned out to be a certification of the purity of the rings.

“It’s really not made of alloy,” Qin Zhan expressed that he really wasn’t short of this bit of money.

Fang Yuhan’s face darkened, and he held back his tears, quickly putting on the ring. “I like alloy, sturdy.”

Qin Zhan stood up with a smile and put on the other ring himself. “Take a look inside, see what’s there.”

Fang Yuhan glanced at the document and a silver chain fell out. At both ends were delicate and glossy small rings, one large and one small. The larger one was simple and elegant, while the smaller one was exquisite, like a miniature version of the ring, with a blue gemstone embedded in it.

“What’s this?” The design was quite unique.

“An anklet.” Qin Zhan knelt down again, rolled up Fang Yuhan’s pant leg, and helped him put it on. The two small rings “clicked” together.

Fang Yuhan’s ankle was slender and fair, and wearing the anklet gave off an inexplicable allure. Qin Zhan’s fingers circled around his ankle, as if charged with electricity, eliciting a tiny shiver from Fang Yuhan.

Fang Yuhan moved his foot slightly, seeing Qin Zhan staring at his ankle intently, almost as if he were fixing him in place, making him unable to escape for the rest of his life. He felt a bit embarrassed. “You should get up quickly.”

“It can’t be taken off even when showering.”

Fang Yuhan also quite liked it and simply said, “Okay.”

It was worn for a year, until the single man Lu Lixuan bought two mynas for company. Fang Yuhan saw something similar to the anklet on the birds’ feet, and then it hit him.

What unique style!

The two rings of different sizes were clearly one loop around the bird’s foot and the other looped around a piece of wood!

Fuming with anger!

Qin Zhan showed no sign of guilt for being exposed, “Do you want a larger version?”

Fang Yuhan quickly retracted his foot. No way, he thought it was quite good as it is.

Really, no one should think of replacing it with something else!
