AFMD : Chapter 49

Duan Shen’s slender fingers tapped on the keyboard a few times, adding the words “Official Announcement” to the content summary. After some editing, it became [Official Announcement, be cautious every year, be cautious every year (????????????) ].

With a firm grip on Gu Nian’s fingers, Duan Shen pressed the send button.

Tonight, along with Gu Nian, the Deep Valley fans were also shouting themselves hoarse.

The returning queen of the entertainment circle, who had been on hiatus, had everyone’s attention. Regardless of who she sided with, she would undoubtedly be a formidable opponent.

As the first brave soul finished watching the video, both sides were left dumbfounded.

Fan A: What’s this? Are we not Gu Nian’s fans anymore? Should we still spam “Gu Xiaosheng has twins”?

Deep Valley fans: Ahhhh! I’m dead! This is the ultimate masterpiece! No one can escape the true fragrance law, no one!

So the fans of the original pairing exited, replaced by the Deep Valley fans’ celebration. They were so excited they wanted to write a 380-page explanation to introduce the video to their fellow fans.

“Be cautious every year, be cautious every year” became a classic catchphrase, a myth in the entertainment circle.

“Listen up, the first ‘Nian Nian’ is a name, and the second ‘Nian Nian’ is an adverb of frequency. It’s so wonderful! What kind of divine love story am I watching? Even the names match perfectly!”

“Deep Valley has redefined ‘Enter with caution.’ I’m all in!”

“The car door is locked tight, and the key is at the top of Mount Everest!”

“There’s even a video of them in bed together! What kind of black magic is this?”

Nobody focused on the words “Official Announcement.” If they knew that this video was actually released by both Duan Shen and Gu Nian together, today’s scene would be even more chaotic.

But Gu Nian knew. He was so scared that he didn’t go online for several days, feeling like he had been caught red-handed. He blushed every time he saw related words.

This symptom persisted until he paid off all 46 debts.

Wrapped in a blanket, Gu Nian sat on the carpet reading a book. After the baby learned to crawl, he showed the typical curiosity of a child, always exploring on his own. In the two-dimensional world, apart from meeting the necessities of life, there was very little entertainment. Thinking that the baby had been confined to this environment for several months, Gu Nian and Duan Shen doted on him excessively, covering all the furniture with foam and even wanting to remove the doors for the baby’s convenience.

The television was a fascinating black box. The baby loved to aimlessly press buttons on the remote control. When he found something he liked, he would stop and watch for a while. If the screen went black, he would seek help from his dad.

This “dad” referred specifically to Duan Shen. Sometimes Gu Nian couldn’t figure out the complicated methods of using a digital TV, let alone when the baby randomly pressed buttons. When Duan Shen received video calls on set during the day, it was almost always to teach Gu Nian how to switch channels for their son.

“Dad!” The baby suddenly tugged on Gu Nian’s trouser leg.

Gu Nian put down the book and reflexively reached for his phone to call for help, but when he looked up, he saw Duan Shen on the television screen.

Duan Shen had just finished shooting a new movie, and the television was showing a short interview.

Gu Nian held his son on his lap, their eyes shining as they concentrated.

Reporter: “Fujiyama (Mont Fuji) often thanks you for guiding his acting on set as a senior. Do you have anything to say to this young junior? Are you looking forward to working with him again?”

The reporter’s questions weren’t very well-worded. Gu Nian felt protective. After all, Duan Shen was barely thirty, and the senior-junior relationship made it sound like he was much older than Fujiyama.

“No,” Duan Shen said coldly. “I’ve only taught one person how to act, and it’s not him.”

The reporter choked for a moment, then pushed to the front and continued, “The Emperor rarely collaborates with the same person twice in a short period. Is there anything special about Fujiyama? Are you looking forward to working with him again?”

Duan Shen replied, “I’m not looking forward to it.”

He usually didn’t bother responding to rumors, but since he had been following Gu Nian’s browsing history recently, he had some understanding of the fan circle. Since he understood it, he had to clarify it. Regardless of whether he offended someone or slapped someone in the face, at least that little fool at home would be happy.

Other reporter: What’s up with this reporter? Clearly here to interview the Emperor, but keeps bringing up other artists?

Together, they pushed the reporter out of the circle, digging deeper: “Can you reveal who that person is? A student of the Emperor must be very talented, right?”

Someone immediately guessed it was Gu Nian.

When Duan Shen heard Gu Nian’s name, a hint of amusement flashed in his eyes. “It’s Nian Nian. He’s very humble, and I really like him.”

After the interview ended and the advertisements came on, the baby saw that his dad was no longer on TV and struggled to crawl away. Gu Nian let him go, completely immersed in Duan Shen’s words.

Let’s see who can shake his position in the fandom!

As the baby crawled around, unable to find his dad, he looked confused. Then, he glanced back and saw Gu Nian chewing on the long bunny ears of his hat, seemingly oblivious.

“Dad?”

“Hmm?”

Gu Nian awkwardly let go of the baby’s hat. He was too excited and thought he was biting his own sleeve.

But in the end, he couldn’t resist. He lifted the baby and kissed his cheek deeply. “Dad loves you so much!”

“Dad will take you to play.” Gu Nian quickly packed the milk powder and diapers, carrying the baby out.

The baby clapped his chubby hands and said in a childish voice, “Play, find Dad.”

Every time Gu Nian said they were going out to play, it meant running to find Duan Shen. The baby had already seen through his tricks, but he was still very happy.

Duan Shen had said he was going to the company’s recording studio today, so Gu Nian, with a mask on and carrying a bag, came over. He heard that Duan Shen had finished recording and was now in the private lounge.

The lounge had a fingerprint lock, and after Gu Nian’s fingerprint was recognized, he knocked on the door, but there was no response.

“Gone back?” Gu Nian opened the door. He hadn’t told Duan Shen he was coming, so could it be that he had left by coincidence?

On the big bed in the room lay a suit jacket, the one Duan Shen had worn when he left this morning. On the table were his wallet and a half cup of hot water, indicating that he had just gone out and would be back later.

Gu Nian hid under the table with his son. “Shh, let’s play hide and seek with Dad.”

The baby blinked his big eyes, quiet yet excited, covering his mouth with his hand. Father and son had the same expression. He loved playing hide and seek with his dads, and they had a mini palace dedicated to the game, somewhat like a maze.

Especially when Duan Shen hid with him, whenever Gu Nian couldn’t find him, he would pout and say, “Does the baby want milk? Come to Daddy…”

Unable to resist the temptation, the baby wriggled to get down, leaving Duan Shen helpless.

When Duan Shen came in, he didn’t notice anything wrong. He opened a drawer and said to his manager behind him, “I’ll be taking a three-day break starting tomorrow.”

“Tsk tsk, another break? Does Emperor want to enjoy a short spring night with Nian Nian? From now on, no more early mornings for the king…”

Gu Nian, hiding under the table, thought to himself, Why does the seemingly serious manager also speak the lewd language of the Deep Valley fans? Thankfully, it wasn’t that line about “every day, every year, people are similar, but the flowers are different,” otherwise, he would have nowhere to hide his face.

Duan Shen said casually, “Watch less junk.”

“Hey, I need something to decompress after silently giving birth to a big chubby kid for you. Is it not okay to have a little fun? Understand?” The manager sat on the chair. “Hahaha, Deep Valley fans are really funny.”

Duan Shen opened the closet. “How about I wear this outfit the day after tomorrow?”

The manager couldn’t help but quip, “There’s no event, so does it matter what you wear? Are you proposing?”

“Hmm.” Duan Shen casually replied, but in his hand, he was comparing three sets of clothes back and forth.

Gu Nian and the manager: “…”

Damn! He eavesdropped on the surprise! If Duan Shen finds out he’s here, will he be too embarrassed to propose?

Gu Nian quietly hugged his son tighter, deciding to wait for Duan Shen to leave before leaving himself, pretending to be unaware.

The ideal scenario was beautiful, but he forgot that his son was an uncontrollable factor.

Sucking on his own fingers, the baby’s black-and-white eyes stared outside. Why wasn’t Dad coming? Usually, when Gu Nian played hide and seek with him, he would be found within a minute.

The manager’s elbow slipped, revealing a sky-blue velvet box inside a drawer, along with what seemed to be a perfect proposal plan.

“Emperor, this is a bit ruthless. If Gu Nian doesn’t cry afterward, I’ll call you Dad!” The manager glanced roughly at the magnificent plan, feeling emotional. Wasn’t this true love in the entertainment industry? With Gu Nian’s temperament, he would agree to a proposal even while washing dishes, but the Emperor still spent a month carefully planning it.

“Dad.”

As if to slap him in the face, as soon as the manager spoke, a “Dad” response followed.

The baby, enduring and enduring, weakly uttered the word when he heard the uncle outside calling for Dad.

Gu Nian: “…”

Duan Shen: “…”

The manager covered his big mouth. “It wasn’t me who said it!”

Duan Shen’s forehead veins bulged, and without saying a word, he pushed the manager out, locked the door, and squatted in front of the table. “Come out.”

Who else could come in besides Gu Nian?

The large red silk cloth was gently lifted, and the baby was the first to peek out from under the table, like a fluffy little head, calling “Dad” as he rushed into Duan Shen’s arms.

Duan Shen took him in his arms, quietly waiting for the other one to come out.

The red cloth moved again, and Gu Nian hesitantly emerged halfway, facing the red silk, his eyes innocent. “I didn’t hear anything.”

Little did he know that his appearance resembled that of a beautiful bride lifting the red veil, cheeks slightly flushed, eyes affectionate.

Duan Shen’s Adam’s apple bobbed. “Never mind, let’s go to the bridal chamber first.”

Gu Nian ignored the second half of the Emperor’s sentence and anxiously emerged from under the table. “Why did you give up? I really didn’t hear anything.”

With one hand holding the baby and the other pressing the back of Gu Nian’s head, Duan Shen gave him a deep kiss.

After a while, Duan Shen gasped slightly and said, “Nian Nian, I love you. Let’s get married.”

Gu Nian hurriedly composed himself and replied solemnly, “Yes.”

The proposal ceremony wasn’t important; he just wanted to hear Duan Shen say it himself.

Duan Shen smiled. He knew Gu Nian’s answer, but this little fool was always worth his effort, to give him the best.

For what he couldn’t give now, they would see each other at their wedding.
