AFMD : Chapter 8

The midday sunlight poured into the room, and Gu Miao’s eyelids fluttered as he was randomly kissed and tickled by Fu Zhen, prompting him to turn his head to avoid it. The sudden movement woke up the rest of his muscles, and he took in a sharp breath of cold air, fully alert now.

“What are you doing…” His voice was also hoarse and hardly recognizable.

Last night, Fu Zhen had said he would make Gu Miao make up for all the missed times, and if he couldn’t call out, Fu Zhen would spank him.

Seeing Gu Miao awake, Fu Zhen slightly sat up, his hands propped on Gu Miao’s neck side, exerting a strong sense of pressure. He stared at Gu Miao intently, squinting his eyes, and said, “I had a nightmare last night.”

Gu Miao: ???

“I dreamed that you were still mute. I said being my boyfriend without speaking was agreeing, and then you spoke up and refused.”

What kind of nightmare was that?

Gu Miao: “And then?”

“You have to compensate me.”

Gu Miao blinked his only movable eye and answered from his heart — “You didn’t sleep at all last night.”

Although he was not fully awake during the latter half, he still knew whether Fu Zhen had slept or not. If he hadn’t slept, where did the nightmare come from?

Fu Zhen was exposed by Gu Miao, but he didn’t feel uncomfortable. Pinching Gu Miao’s chin, he said, “Don’t change the subject, be my boyfriend.”

Gu Miao: “My throat is hoarse, I don’t want to speak for three days.”

“That’s just perfect, saves some energy.” Fu Zhen finally said this sentence and leaned in to kiss Gu Miao again before he could fully respond.

Gu Miao was caught off guard by the sudden kiss and responded involuntarily for a few moments before pushing Fu Zhen away, scolding him with dissatisfaction, “You’re such a trickster.”

Fu Zhen smiled, his eyes shining with affection, “I’m just good at seizing opportunities.”

Gu Miao shook his head helplessly, but a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. The feeling of being teased by Fu Zhen, though.

Realizing this, he forcefully covered Gu Miao’s mouth.

Three days later, Gu Miao finally got out of bed, insisting on taking a shower by himself. As he washed, he couldn’t help but hum a song softly.

Fu Zhen leaned against the door outside, his eyes filled with a smile.

The spot where the bathroom door used to be locked was now empty. Fu Zhen had no intention of going in, but Gu Miao felt like he was walking on thin ice. Seeing Fu Zhen’s shadow, he reflexively tensed up and almost slipped. He leaned against the bathroom wall, being extremely careful.

He didn’t want to go through this for another three days.

Listening to Gu Miao singing his own songs, Fu Zhen finally suggested, “Why don’t you join the boy band? I’ll be the captain for you.”

Gu Miao thought he was annoying Fu Zhen with his talkativeness, “Are you tired of me? Do you prefer someone who’s mute?”

Fu Zhen chuckled, “How could that be? I have plenty of ways to make sure you can’t say a word.”

Gu Miao: …

Fu Zhen had long wanted to bring Gu Miao in, always wanting him by his side. Half threatening and half negotiating, he said, “Are you really not considering it?”

“No.” Wasn’t that walking into a tiger’s den?

“Dare you!” Fu Zhen pretended to enter.

“Don’t! Can’t I just go?” Gu Miao immediately gave in.

Fu Zhen didn’t succeed and felt a bit regretful. “You could have endured a bit longer.”

Gu Miao’s manager hadn’t seen him for three days, tears welling up in his eyes. “You finally remembered to work.” Gu Miao and Fu Zhen dropped a bombshell on the variety show, but when it was officially aired, they both disappeared. Who knew how busy they had been lately.

Denying it would seem too fake, and admitting it… what if Gu Miao’s identity was exposed one day, leading to both of them coming out together? Just thinking about it gave him a headache.

Gu Miao felt embarrassed. “Sorry, I’ll work hard from now on…”

The manager looked suspicious. “Did I become forgetful with age? Your voice wasn’t like this before.”

Could it be that pretending to be mute for too long damaged his vocal cords?

The manager was shocked, not knowing how to explain to Gu Miao’s family.

“…”

Fu Zhen happened to come over. “He caught a cold.”

The boy band’s manager followed behind.

The four of them sat opposite each other as if discussing a marriage, debating Gu Miao’s future.

It’s hard to avoid trouble when walking along the river. Gu Miao spending another day in the entertainment industry as a woman meant more danger. Switching to the boy band was the best option, avoiding the need to act aloof or mute.

“Anyway, it’s not urgent. Let’s gradually hint at the idea of leaving the industry.”

With the manager’s reluctant gaze, Fu Zhen openly led Gu Miao away. Lin Jie’s sad expression disappeared, replaced by a fierce one as she pounced on the boy band’s manager. “Let’s talk about the transfer fee!”

Seeing Gu Miao’s dazed expression, Fu Zhen knew he was reluctant to leave his fans. He jokingly said, “Being in a girl group wouldn’t be bad either.”

“Huh?”

“That way, only I can hear your voice.” Fu Zhen lowered his head, holding Gu Miao’s face tenderly. “I won’t have to worry about your voice being hoarse the next day.”

“I like hearing you…”

“Rascal!” Gu Miao stomped on Fu Zhen, irritated. “You wish!”

Thinking about not taking advantage of Fu Zhen, Gu Miao suddenly felt some anticipation for the boy band.

Fu Zhen held his hand. “No matter which path you choose, I’ll accompany you. You don’t need to bear any burden, just be happy wherever you are.”

At worst, they could both apologize to the public and leave the industry together. Who would work when they had a wife?

Gu Miao nodded.

He entered the industry to make money. With enough money and a boyfriend, he wouldn’t lose out no matter what.

If Fu Zhen wanted them to spend more time together in the boy band, why not?

At least when Fu Zhen went on a nationwide tour, they could be together all the time, facing the public eye and attending New Year’s Eve parties together… without being miles apart and buying scalped tickets to concerts.

Gu Miao reduced his public appearances and began practicing dance moves for the boy band, as well as trying his hand at singing.

Fu Zhen, as the captain of the boy band, possessively dismissed Gu Miao’s dance teacher and personally took charge of his training. Such intimate physical contact couldn’t be entrusted to outsiders; the captain had to take the lead.

Fu Zhen wasn’t exactly an upright teacher; he took advantage of his teaching role to make advances.

As Fu Zhen closed in on Gu Miao, who was feeling nervous, Gu Miao smiled and said, “Teacher Fu, I’ve got it.”

“You’ve got it? I’ve forgotten. Then teach me.” Fu Zhen grabbed Gu Miao’s hand and pulled him closer. “Is this hand supposed to go here?”

“No.” Gu Miao’s eyes flickered, his eyelashes trembling, but he still answered like a good student, “It needs to go down a bit more.”

With a sudden press, Fu Zhen pulled Gu Miao into his arms. With his long hair cut, his fair and delicate neck was exposed, easily accessible for Fu Zhen to bite.

“I’ve got something I’ve been wanting to try for a long time…”

“What did you buy this time?” Gu Miao panicked. If Fu Zhen’s friend showed up, he’d make sure to give him a hard time.

Opportunity came knocking.

Gu Miao and Fu Zhen were having dinner when someone greeted Fu Zhen from afar, “That thing you ordered has some technical difficulties… uh, sis-in-law?”

Gu Miao silently assessed him: a polished scoundrel, a refined degenerate; it had to be him.

Gu Miao seized the opportunity while Fu Zhen went to the restroom to speak with the friend, “That handcuff is pretty good…”

The friend rubbed his nose, “Haha, that’s good to know.”

Gu Miao narrowed his eyes, lowering his voice, “If you keep selling him all sorts of nonsense, I’ll seduce you.”

“I’m a married man!” the friend exclaimed, terrified.

“That’s a coincidence, so am I.” Gu Miao shot him a threatening glare.

The friend muttered under his breath, “You want me dead!”

Gu Miao retorted, “You’re the one who wants me dead.”

Fu Zhen returned from the restroom and saw the two of them huddled closely, warning, “What are you two talking about? Don’t talk too much with him; he’s not a good person.”

The friend: Let’s end this friendship and stop doing business.

Gu Miao thoughtfully looked at Fu Zhen, then at the friend, suddenly enlightened.

Wasn’t it all about money? Everyone had their price.

If Fu Zhen could buy him, why couldn’t he buy others?! Fu Zhen and his friend both felt a chill down their spines.

The next year, Gu Miao announced his retirement from the industry due to health reasons.

Fans were heartbroken and tearfully tried to convince him to stay. Gu Miao had minimal interaction with fans in the girl group, practically zero, but his heart was always burning with passion.

Overwhelmed with guilt, emotion, and reluctance, he ended up crying like a fool while holding his phone.

“I could have danced in drag for another ten thousand years.”

Just as he was feeling moved, he suddenly saw a top-ranked comment.

“See, he’s retiring to have a baby.”

Gu Miao’s tears stopped abruptly. Why hadn’t this rumor died yet? Would he have to hold a press conference just to clarify things?

Determined to keep a low profile, Gu Miao went to bed angrily. Fu Zhen, thinking of doing something else, was kicked off the bed by Gu Miao.

“Baby, what’s wrong?”

“Baby my foot, I’m not your baby.”
