PAGBWMH : Chapter 75

An Accident Happened

Bonus chapter ♥

The day after Wei Nanfeng and Sun Qi visited his parents, they registered their marriage and became legal partners.

Wei Nanfeng was overjoyed and invited his friends to his home to celebrate his marriage registration. The exact date for the wedding was still under discussion, as they needed to choose an auspicious day.

Yi Wei also went along with Gu Yueshang to the celebration. This provided a perfect opportunity for Yi Wei to ask Sun Qi about the details of how they convinced his parents and to understand the situation better.

While Wei Nanfeng and Gu Yueshang, along with a group of friends, were drinking and chatting, Sun Qi took Yi Wei to the home theater. They watched a movie and talked at the same time.

Wei Nanfeng’s mother, Zhao Fang, knocked on the door and entered with two servants carrying trays. She looked at Sun Qi and asked, “Xiao Qi, are you hungry?”

“Mom,” Sun Qi stood up and greeted her.

Since registering their marriage, Sun Qi had started calling her “Mom.” Zhao Fang was beyond delighted that Wei Nanfeng was finally willing to get married, and she was very satisfied with Sun Qi. Upon learning that Sun Qi was already pregnant, she was overjoyed, treating Sun Qi with even more care than her own son, Wei Nanfeng.

“Auntie,” Yi Wei also stood up and greeted her.

“Please, sit down. There’s no need to be so formal. It’s just us here, no need for all the politeness,” Zhao Fang smiled. “Nanfeng told me you’ve been feeling sick, so I thought it would be better for you to eat smaller portions more frequently. This is a special fruit porridge prepared by the chef, with a hint of sweet and sour, and a refreshing fruit aroma. Try it. Anytime you want to eat something, just ask the kitchen to make it. From now on, this is your home too, so make yourself comfortable.”

“Thank you, Mom,” Sun Qi responded sweetly.

“You two chat, don’t worry about the men. They might keep drinking for a while longer, but I’ll keep an eye on them,” Zhao Fang said before leaving.

After she left, Sun Qi and Yi Wei sat back down on the sofa. They took a sip of the fruit porridge, finding it surprisingly delicious. The fruit pieces were tender, and the slight sweet and sour taste was refreshing without being overwhelming.

“Was your mom angry?” Yi Wei asked.

“She wasn’t happy that I got pregnant before graduating, but she didn’t oppose or get angry about me being with Wei Nanfeng,” Sun Qi replied, taking small bites of the porridge. “You were right. Although my mom would have preferred that I marry a woman, she didn’t actually oppose the idea of me being with a man.”

“Then why didn’t she tell you that you’re intersex?” Yi Wei asked.

“She said she didn’t want me to feel pressured into thinking I had to marry a man just because of it. She hoped I’d follow my heart and choose based on my true preferences,” Sun Qi explained. “Actually, my parents had already figured out that I was dating Wei Nanfeng. My mom was about to tell me about my condition, but whenever she asked if I was in a relationship, I’d deny it or avoid the topic. She thought I wasn’t ready to come clean or wasn’t sure of my feelings for Wei Nanfeng yet, so she didn’t push. But she hinted many times for me to take care of myself, and despite all that, I still ended up getting pregnant with Wei Nanfeng’s child.”

Sun Qi had always been a well-behaved and considerate child, never going through a rebellious phase. His mother trusted him, but she never expected her obedient son to end up pregnant before marriage. However, they had already accepted the relationship between Sun Qi and Wei Nanfeng and were satisfied with the match. As a result, things moved quickly, and the situation was settled without any issues.

After finishing his bowl, Yi Wei placed it on the coffee table and nodded, saying, “That’s great. The Wei family seems a lot simpler than the Gu family. Your mother-in-law seems very kind. You can relax and focus on your pregnancy, waiting for the baby to arrive.”

The Wei family had fewer complications compared to the Gu family. Wei Nanfeng’s grandfather was an only child, as was his father, and Wei Nanfeng himself had no brothers, only four sisters, all of whom were already married with children. Moreover, Wei Nanfeng’s mother and sisters were kind and reasonable people who understood Wei Nanfeng’s character, so they would never give Sun Qi a hard time. As for distant relatives, they wouldn’t have any influence. With no family drama to worry about, Sun Qi and Wei Nanfeng could look forward to a peaceful life together.

Sun Qi placed his hand on his stomach and said, “I can’t really describe my feelings right now. This child came when I wasn’t mentally prepared at all, disrupting all my plans. But I’m not upset—in fact, I’m growing more and more excited for his arrival.”

“Congratulations, I’m really happy for you,” Yi Wei said, holding Sun Qi’s hand.

“Thank you,” Sun Qi smiled. “We’ll be raising our children together now. You’re the experienced one, so you’ll have to share some of your wisdom with me.”

Yi Wei laughed and nodded.

Gu Yueshang, Wei Nanfeng, and the others didn’t finish their night until late, though they had stopped drinking early and were mostly just chatting by the end.

Yi Wei and Sun Qi chatted late into the night as well. When Yi Wei was finally too tired, he went to the guest room to sleep. As he was drifting off, he felt Gu Yueshang climb into bed and instinctively curled into his arms.

“Why so late…?” Yi Wei mumbled, half-asleep.

“Nan Feng was too happy about becoming a father, and we were all celebrating with him. We ended up reminiscing about old times,” Gu Yueshang explained.

“That’s such an old person thing to do. Only people your age always talk about the past. Sun Qi and I, on the other hand, spent the night talking about plans for the future.”

“Are you calling me old?” Gu Yueshang asked, lowering his head.

“Mm-hmm,” Yi Wei teased.

“Got it,” Gu Yueshang said, his hands beginning to roam.

Yi Wei yelped in surprise and couldn’t help but let out a small cry.

Sun Qi woke up when Wei Nanfeng came into the room. Lying on his side, he watched as Wei Nanfeng entered the bathroom.

When Wei Nanfeng came out, he got into bed, seeing that Sun Qi’s eyes were still open. He gently stroked his hair and asked, “Why aren’t you asleep yet?”

“I can’t sleep,” Sun Qi whispered.

Wei Nanfeng pulled him into his arms and softly patted his back, saying, “Don’t worry. You can trust me. No matter what happens in the future, I’ll always be there for you.”

“Mm, I trust you,” Sun Qi murmured, closing his eyes and pressing his face against Wei Nanfeng’s chest.

This was Wei Nanfeng’s room and bed. It was Sun Qi’s first time sleeping there, and he felt a little uneasy being in the room alone earlier. But now, lying in Wei Nanfeng’s embrace, he felt reassured. This would be his home from now on. He would live here with Wei Nanfeng, raise their child together, and grow old side by side.

Sun Qi was almost three months pregnant, and his constitution wasn’t as strong as Yi Wei’s, so he experienced severe morning sickness. While Yi Wei’s pregnancy had gone relatively smoothly, Sun Qi was struggling more. Wei Nanfeng, concerned that things would only get harder as the pregnancy progressed, decided to hold the wedding in about twenty days.

Preparations for Sun Qi and Wei Nanfeng’s wedding had already begun. While Sun Qi didn’t have to handle everything himself, there were certain decisions that required his input. The wedding planning company also needed his opinions and approval before moving forward with specific plans.

Yi Wei, having gone through a wedding of his own, had experience in these matters. So he frequently visited the Wei family during this time, helping Sun Qi with ideas and suggestions.

One evening after dinner, Sun Qi walked Yi Wei out. Meanwhile, Ye Xiucheng stood hidden in a corner, secretly watching Yi Wei leave, feeling an indescribable sense of loss.

Ye Xiucheng didn’t dare show himself in front of Yi Wei. It was only after Yi Wei had left that he came out, walking dejectedly toward the lawn, where he crouched down and began plucking grass in his frustration.

Sun Qi noticed him and, puzzled, walked over. As he got closer, he saw that Ye Xiucheng had cleared a small patch of grass, leaving bare soil. Confused, Sun Qi asked, “Nephew, are you playing with mud at your age?”

Ye Xiucheng paused for a moment, then said in a muffled voice, “Aunt, I’m not playing with mud.”

“Then what are you doing?” Sun Qi asked, looking at his dirt-covered fingers. “Pulling up grass?”

“I… I’m just relieving stress,” Ye Xiucheng said, coming up with an excuse.

“I see…” Sun Qi said, his expression a little strange. “Well, carry on then, but make sure to wash your hands afterward.”

Ye Xiucheng nodded.

As Sun Qi turned to go inside, he gestured for one of the servants to come over and quietly said, “Go keep an eye on the young master and make sure he doesn’t eat any dirt.”

The servant looked confused but nodded and went over to silently watch Ye Xiucheng.

Later that evening, when Wei Nanfeng returned, Sun Qi said, “Husband…”

Wei Nanfeng saw Sun Qi’s hesitant expression and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Earlier this afternoon, I saw something… strange. Your nephew… he was…,” Sun Qi lowered his voice and whispered, “He was playing with mud.”

Wei Nanfeng was taken aback. “Playing with what?”

“He was crouching on the lawn, pulling up grass and playing with the dirt. He’s two years older than me, and I just don’t think it’s normal behavior for someone his age. So I was wondering if…,” Sun Qi trailed off, pointing to his head as if suggesting something might be wrong with Ye Xiucheng mentally.

“… Was Yi Wei here today?” Wei Nanfeng asked after a moment.

“Yeah,” Sun Qi replied. “Why?”

“He’s not mentally unwell. He’s just immature. He’s always been like that,” Wei Nanfeng sighed. “He’s still heartbroken. Once he gets over it, he’ll be fine.”

“Heartbroken?” Sun Qi asked, puzzled. “Is he really pulling up grass because he’s heartbroken?”

“He’s in love with Yi Wei,” Wei Nanfeng explained.

“Wait, what?!” Sun Qi exclaimed. “When did that happen? Why didn’t I know?”

Wei Nanfeng told him about what had happened in the ancient city. Sun Qi was shocked—he had been there when it all happened but had no idea about this part of the story. Still, he couldn’t help but feel that, even if Ye Xiucheng was heartbroken over Yi Wei, he shouldn’t be acting like a child, pulling up grass and playing in the dirt.

During this time, Yi Hong and Zhao Zhen had been trying various ways to contact Yi Wei. They sent messages asking him to visit the Yi family and even sent him some of his old belongings, hoping to play the sentimentality card. But Yi Wei had no intention of going back. He had vowed never to set foot in the Yi family again, and he intended to keep that promise.

But Yi Hong and Zhao Zhen didn’t give up so easily. They decided to visit the Gu family’s main residence, hoping to see Yi Wei in person.

After putting his child to sleep, Yi Wei heard about their arrival. After thinking it over, he decided to meet them.
