PAGBWMH : Chapter 81

You're My Precious Baby

After Yi Wei returned home, he told Gu Yueshan about Yi Bo’s proposal for cooperation. After explaining the situation, Yi Wei looked at Gu Yueshan and asked, “Isn’t this development a bit unexpected? At first, I was just trying to hide my pregnancy while still being able to meet with you and go out. Then I thought, maybe I could use my female disguise. Sure enough, Gu Heng and the others took the bait and started plotting to use ‘me in disguise’ against the current ‘me.’ If everything up until now was within my expectations, I definitely didn’t foresee that Yi Bo would learn about their plan and come to seek reconciliation and cooperation with me.”

“Although his move is risky, it is indeed the best option for him,” Gu Yueshan said.

“But what if he gets exposed? Both the Jiang and Xu families won’t spare him,” Yi Wei said. “He’s putting all his hopes on me, expecting that I’ll save him. That doesn’t seem like something Yi Bo would normally do.”

Gu Yueshan thought for a moment and said, “Perhaps… he holds some crucial leverage against the Jiang or Xu families, something that can protect both him and the Yi family if things go south.”

“If he had that kind of leverage, wouldn’t it be easier for him to just threaten the Jiang and Xu families directly?” Yi Wei asked, puzzled. “He wouldn’t need to come to me for help.”

“The more significant the leverage, the less you can afford to expose it,” Gu Yueshan explained. “Do you think the Jiang and Xu families would tolerate being threatened for long? Eventually, they’d retaliate.”

Yi Wei nodded in agreement. “You’re right. Threats usually only work against those weaker than you. Threatening people much stronger than yourself is practically asking for trouble. If Yi Bo has some major dirt on them, he would only use it as a last resort. He must know that.”

“Feels like Yi Bo is playing a long game. I’m really curious about what kind of leverage he has,” Yi Wei mused. “I’ll tell him tomorrow that I agree to cooperate.”

Gu Yueshan stood up, but as he was about to walk to the side, he suddenly collapsed.

Yi Wei was startled. He jumped up quickly, running around the desk to kneel by Gu Yueshan, checking on him in a panic. “Husband, what’s wrong?! Don’t scare me!”

Gu Yueshan opened his eyes slowly, sitting up and pulling Yi Wei into his arms. “I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

Yi Wei hugged him tightly, saying, “You scared me to death. Let’s go to the hospital.”

“No need. I just need to lie down and rest for a bit,” Gu Yueshan reassured him.

Still, Yi Wei helped him up and led him to the bed. Once Gu Yueshan lay down, Yi Wei knelt beside him, cradling his face. “I’m calling the private doctor to come check on you. I won’t be at ease without it.”

“Alright,” Gu Yueshan agreed.

Yi Wei immediately called for the private doctor, instructing them to bring as many diagnostic tools as possible and to come quickly.

After the call, Yi Wei lay down beside Gu Yueshan, holding him tightly, his heart filled with unease.

Gu Yueshan tried to calm him, saying, “Don’t worry. I almost had a personality switch just now, which caused me to pass out. It’s not a physical problem. I have full-body checkups twice a year, so if it were something serious, it would’ve been detected by now.”

Yi Wei said nothing, simply holding him in silence, praying over and over in his heart for Gu Yueshan to be alright.

When the doctor arrived with the equipment, they moved to another room for the examination. The doctor also drew some of Gu Yueshan’s blood to take back for testing.

After the examination, the doctor said, “Gu Dong seems to be overworked, which may have caused the temporary dizziness. If you’re still concerned, I suggest doing a more comprehensive checkup at the hospital.”

“Let’s go to the hospital,” Yi Wei said, holding Gu Yueshan’s hand.

“Alright,” Gu Yueshan agreed, pulling Yi Wei into his arms and patting his back. “We’ll go now.”

To put Yi Wei’s mind at ease, they headed to the hospital for a thorough checkup. When the results came back showing that everything was normal, Yi Wei finally relaxed, and the two returned home.

The news that Gu Yueshan’s private doctor had come to the Gu family residence—and that both he and Yi Wei had gone to the hospital—spread quickly throughout the family. Xu Hua and Ye Feng, along with others, were already gathered in the main hall, waiting for their return.

When Gu Yueshan and Yi Wei entered the hall, they took their seats in the main spot.

“I heard the doctor came by today. Was Yi Wei feeling unwell?” Ye Feng asked.

Everyone assumed that Yi Wei might be pregnant again, because Gu Yueshan had always been strong and healthy, and he didn’t seem like someone who would fall ill easily. Thus, many believed it was likely that Yi Wei was expecting another child.

Among the gathered relatives, those aligned with Ye Feng were genuinely concerned for Yi Wei, while Xu Hua’s side was more anxious about the possibility of another pregnancy—especially Xu Hua herself, who knew that if Yi Wei were pregnant again, even leveraging Mi Wei wouldn’t help them surpass Yi Wei, who would now have two children.

Gu Yueshan calmly sipped his tea before responding, “I’ve been too busy lately and overworked myself, which caused some physical discomfort. Yi Wei was worried, so he called the doctor. And since it’s time for my annual physical anyway, we went to the hospital for a thorough checkup. The doctor said I just need some rest.”

“It’s really not because Yi Wei is pregnant?” Xu Hua asked, suspicious. “Are you sure you’re not hiding it again like last time, only telling us after the baby is born?”

“If we wanted to hide it, would we have let you know the doctor was here and that we went to the hospital?” Gu Yueshan countered.

Xu Hua was speechless. He had a point. If they really wanted to keep it a secret, they wouldn’t have let anyone know, just like last time, when they only found out two months after the baby was born.

Xu Hua felt somewhat relieved but still couldn’t shake her concerns. As Gu Yueshan said he was going back to rest and asked everyone to leave, Xu Hua glanced once more at Yi Wei’s stomach before turning to go.

Outside, Jiang Shuqin whispered, “Mom, do you think Yi Wei is pregnant this time?”

“I don’t think so,” Xu Hua replied. “But even if he’s not pregnant now, who knows when he’ll be again?”

“Whether he’s pregnant now or not, what can we even do about it?” Jiang Shuqin sighed with worry. “They already have one child. Having two, three more… it’s only a matter of time.”

Xu Hua ignored her, telling Gu Heng to head back with her while dismissing the others.

Back at their residence, Xu Hua asked Gu Heng, “Has Mi Wei told you where she is yet?”

“I’ve been in contact with her, keeping track of her situation. I think she’s close to telling me where she is,” Gu Heng said. “She’s hiding for now but still feels very uneasy, worried that Fourth Uncle will find her.”

“Has she mentioned her health or the baby?” Xu Hua inquired.

“She said she’s doing well, and the baby is healthy.”

“Make sure to find out her location soon. Don’t mention anything about the possibility of Yi Wei being pregnant again. We need her to believe that as long as she trusts us, there’s still hope.”

“I understand,” Gu Heng replied.

Meanwhile, Yi Wei had already handed the phone he used to message Gu Heng over to Deng Song. He didn’t have the time or energy to deal with Gu Heng directly, so he let Deng Song reply to Gu Heng’s messages, stringing him along and making it seem like Mi Wei was just about to reveal her location.

That night, Yi Wei urged Gu Yueshan to rest early. After putting their child to bed, Yi Wei lay beside Gu Yueshan and gently kissed his forehead. “The little one’s asleep. Now it’s time for the big baby to sleep too.”

Gu Yueshan chuckled softly. “It’s my first time being a baby. You’ll have to treat me well.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of you. Now go to sleep,” Yi Wei said softly, patting him.

Yi Wei had been shaken by the events of the day. Although Gu Yueshan’s physical health was fine, his dissociative identity disorder still worried Yi Wei. This time, it was a sudden fainting spell. Who knew what might happen next? Yi Wei couldn’t bear the thought of anything happening to him.

Since studying psychology, Yi Wei had been researching ways to treat Gu Yueshan. He had originally planned to wait until he was more skilled before treating Gu Yueshan himself, knowing that Gu Yueshan would trust him completely. But given the current situation, it was best not to delay any further. If someone else discovered something, who knows what might happen? Yi Wei decided to ask his adoptive mother, Mi Xue, to help treat Gu Yueshan.

However, before going to Mi Xue, Yi Wei knew he needed Gu Yueshan’s consent, so he planned to talk to him about it tomorrow.
