Yi Bo sold off everything of value in Yi Corporation. Under normal circumstances, the company would not have fetched a good price, and they might even have ended up in debt. But by seizing the opportunity to sell at a high price, they secured significant funds. This gave the Yi family enough resources to prepare for a comeback when the time was right.
Yi Bo was well aware that the Jiang and Xu families would not let him off easily. Alone, he couldn’t stop their attacks. But he knew someone who could: Gu Yueshan. With the evidence he held, he was confident Gu Yueshan wouldn’t let the Xu and Jiang families go unpunished.
After hastily finalizing their arrangements, Yi Bo and his parents went into hiding abroad. Once settled, Yi Bo sent a video and audio recording to Yi Wei.
When Yi Wei finished watching and listening, his emotions were a tangled mess—shock, clarity, anger, and heartbreak all at once.
Yi Wei immediately shared the recordings with Gu Yueshan. There was no way he could or would hide this from him. Yi Bo, too, must have known this, which was why he sent the evidence directly to Yi Wei.
After listening to the recordings, Gu Yueshan closed his eyes and said, “It was them, after all.”
Yi Wei hugged him tightly. “Can this serve as evidence?”
“Too much time has passed. Even if it could, it wouldn’t hold them accountable to the extent they deserve,” Gu Yueshan replied.
“Are you planning to handle this yourself?” Yi Wei asked.
“They must pay for what they’ve done.”
Yi Wei pressed his face against Gu Yueshan’s head. No matter what Gu Yueshan was going to do, he wouldl support him.
The recordings Yi Bo provided contained a conversation between two men whose voices were easily recognizable: Xu Hua’s elder brother, Elder Xu, and Jiang Shuqin’s father, Elder Jiang. Their brief discussion revealed them as the masterminds behind Gu Yueshan’s kidnapping years ago.
What remained unclear was why they had orchestrated the kidnapping. After all, Gu Yueshan becoming the Gu family heir should have been beneficial to the Xu family. It was also uncertain whether Xu Hua had known about this plan and how Yi Bo had obtained the recording.
While these questions would eventually need answers, Gu Yueshan was more focused on the immediate task: ensuring the culprits paid for their actions.
Gu Yueshan arranged a meeting with his most trusted friends. Detecting the seriousness in his tone, Wei Nanfeng, Wu Suyan, Wu Jun, and others quickly gathered.
Yi Wei observed as Gu Yueshan’s friends arrived one by one and then stepped into an adjacent lounge, leaving them to their meeting.
Taking on the Xu and Jiang families was no small feat. Even for Gu Yueshan, it wasn’t something he could achieve alone. He needed to leverage his network and rely on the strength of his allies.
Three hours later, the meeting concluded with a tentative plan. As everyone left, Wei Nanfeng lingered.
“The masterminds behind your kidnapping were from the Xu and Jiang families? Elder Xu is your biological uncle. Why would they do this?” Wei Nanfeng asked, bewildered.
“I don’t know their reasons yet,” Gu Yueshan replied. “But I’ll make them explain it themselves.”
“And your mother?” Wei Nanfeng hesitated.
“I’ll ask her personally.” Gu Yueshan’s voice was cold, his eyes steely.
Wei Nanfeng sighed internally and patted Gu Yueshan on the shoulder before leaving. He hoped Xu Hua had neither participated in nor known about the kidnapping. Few things could be more devastating than discovering your biological mother had betrayed you.
That evening, Yi Wei resumed Gu Yueshan’s hypnosis therapy. While previous sessions had gone smoothly, this one nearly went awry. During the process, Yi Wei realized that what he had thought was Gu Yueshan’s “primary personality” wasn’t truly original. In fact, neither of Gu Yueshan’s personalities was entirely normal.
Yi Wei concluded that his earlier idea of eliminating the violent personality was wrong. The key lay in integrating the two personalities, allowing Gu Yueshan to regain his true self.
Holding Gu Yueshan’s hand tightly, Yi Wei knew the road ahead would be difficult. But no matter what, they had to succeed.
The next morning, Yi Wei awoke to find Gu Yueshan’s violent personality in control. His eyes carried an unsettling intensity.
“Husband,” Yi Wei called, grasping his hand nervously.
“So, they’ve finally shown their hand after all these years,” Gu Yueshan said, his voice cold and ruthless. “I won’t let them get away with it.”
“You need to do what you must, and I’ll support you,” Yi Wei said, hugging him tightly. “But please stay calm. Don’t let them sense anything unusual.”
“I’ve never been this calm in my life,” Gu Yueshan said, his eyes flashing with a dangerous light. “This time, I’ll make sure they don’t stand a chance.”
Meanwhile, Yi Bo and his parents stayed on the move abroad, evading the Xu and Jiang families’ efforts to track them down. They didn’t realize that Gu Yueshan’s trap was slowly closing in on them.
For the next two months, Yi Wei stayed close to Gu Yueshan, who remained in his violent state for an unprecedented length of time. Concerned, Yi Wei confided in Mi Xue about everything. Together, they discussed how to proceed with treatment.
Mi Xue believed this was an excellent opportunity. The extended duration of Gu Yueshan’s violent state made it easier to work on integrating his personalities. Moreover, his hatred fueled a cold, calculated clarity, making this the ideal time for treatment. Missing this chance could make therapy even more challenging in the future. Yi Wei’s task now was to convince Gu Yueshan to cooperate.
Yi Wei walked into Gu Yueshan’s office as he finished a phone call. Standing by the desk, Yi Wei waited until he hung up.
“What’s on your mind?” Gu Yueshan asked, noticing Yi Wei’s hesitation.
Without answering, Yi Wei lowered his head in silence.
Gu Yueshan reached for Yi Wei’s hand, pulling him onto his lap. He gently caressed Yi Wei’s face, kissing him softly. This tenderness was unusual for his violent personality, which typically expressed itself in intense, domineering ways.
When they parted, Yi Wei looked into his eyes. “What will it take for you to agree to start treatment now?”
“We agreed I’d cooperate after this is over,” Gu Yueshan replied. “Right now, I need to deal with them myself.”
Sliding off his lap, Yi Wei crouched on the floor, hugging his knees without saying a word.
“Yi Wei?” Gu Yueshan crouched beside him.
“I’m running away from home,” Yi Wei declared. “I’ll come back when you agree. If you don’t agree within a week, I’ll move out and we’ll separate.”
Yi Wei knew reasoning with Gu Yueshan’s violent personality was pointless. Unlike his calmer side, this persona responded better to tantrums and ultimatums.
“…” After looking at Yi Wei in silence for a long time, Gu Yueshan sighed. “Alright. I promise you. I’ll cooperate.”
“Really?” Yi Wei looked up.
“Really,” Gu Yueshan raised his hand and stroked Yi Wei’s hair.
“If you dare to lie to me, I’ll still run away from home,” Yi Wei said seriously.
“I won’t lie to you. I’ll do my best to cooperate,” Gu Yueshan promised, pulling Yi Wei to his feet.
Yi Wei hugged him tightly. “Mom said if we miss this window, it’ll be harder to treat you later. The more I love you, the more I worry. I can’t keep living on edge.”
Gu Yueshan embraced him just as tightly. “I understand. I’m sorry for making you worry.”
